APA format (American P sychological A ssociation) is a format for writing widely accepted research papers, especially for research in the social sciences, standardizing the citation of academic literature and writing methods of references, as well as tables, charts, footnotes and appendixes. Headings are used to organize articles so that they have a hierarchical structure. There are no headline requirements above Level 6. The "Introduction" section does not require a title and the APA format does not allow "numbers" and "single letters" to appear at the beginning of the title.

The APA format stipulates that the person names in the "References" section must be arranged in alphabetical order by Family name , including the prefix of the first name. For example, James Smith should be changed to "Smith, J.,"; Saif Al Falasi to "Al-Falasi, Saif." (Arabic names usually have a hyphen "-" between the last name and the prefix, so the last name and the prefix are self-contained.)
