What is Goddard College?
Goddard College is a private university in Vermont Plainfield, just outside the capital of Montpelier. The predecessor of the contemporary school, The Green Mountain Central Institute, was founded in 1863 and later became a Goddard seminar in 1870. The middle career will complete the degree. He was designed with a requirement for a low residence so that students could return to their families and work and continue to study and work with teachers from a distance. The program was wildly successful and became even more detailed with the advent of new communication technologies. In 2002, the school eliminated its traditional program on academic land in favor of the exclusively offer of the low -residentity program.
In the course of his history, Goddard College held progressive ideals and during the 1960s and 1970s it was a focus for anti -war activism and radicals. Although now less radical when there is no permanent student body on the campus, students continue to create a job that promotes political and social discourse, and the faculty supports usShining out of the box while watching an educational path.
Thecore of the Modern Goddard College program is a low residence program. In this program, students attend Goddard College for a ten -day stay after each semester. During this stay, workshops visit other students and faculties and cooperate with the Faculty Advisor to create a study plan for the semester. The study plan outlines what their field of study will be, what texts they will refer to, and set me milestones to meet in the form of packets throughout the semester.
students then leave Goddard College and remain in touch with their faculty advisor E -mail, post, telephone and online system. Depending on the advisor, they can also cooperate with a student cohort composed of other students from Goddard College who work with the same advisor. The consultant provides direction and feedback and helps to direct the student's plan to takeTil that from their semester gets everything they want. At the same time, the program is designed to be very focused, and it is therefore expected that students will find many of their own resources and push and invite themselves to achieve.
In addition to two university programs, one for a bachelor's degree and one for the bachelor's degree of fine arts, Goddard College also offers the General Masters program, Master's program and Masters of Fine Arts. Each of the different programs meets during different periods of stay, allowing them to meet as a unique community. At the end of the study, students create a senior project, which they then share with a larger community at the climax of their time at Goddard College and expressing the creative energy that controls the school.
