What Is the NCLEX-RN®?
The American Nursing School Graduate Review Committee (CGFNS) was established by the American Nurses Association and the National Nursing Federation in 1977 at the request of the US Department of Labor and the Department of Health Education and Welfare (now the Department of Health and Human Services). The task of this committee is to review the qualifications of graduates with a nurse education background in the world to ensure that qualified candidates enter the nursing profession after passing the Registered Nurses License Examination (NCLEX-RN) in the United States.

- The American Nursing School Graduate Review Committee (CGFNS) was established by the American Nurses Association and the National Nursing Federation in 1977 at the request of the US Department of Labor and the Department of Health Education and Welfare (now the Department of Health and Human Services). The task of this committee is to review the qualifications of graduates with a nurse education background in the world to ensure that qualified candidates enter the nursing profession after passing the Registered Nurses License Examination (NCLEX-RN) in the United States.
- CGFNS offers a certificate program that enables nurses with an international education background to seize their chance to pass the US Nurses License Examination before applying to enter the United States. Since the CGFNS held its first exam in 1978, more than 89 percent of nurses with an international education background holding a CGFNS certificate have passed the Registered Nurse License Examination in each state.
- The CGFNS Certificate Program (CGFNS-CP) is only designed for junior general nurses who are educated or licensed outside the U.S. who want to pass the U.S. Registered Nurses License Examination, the NCLEX-RN® exam, and obtain a nurse license in the United States of.
- The certificate program consists of a qualification review, a one-day nursing knowledge qualification test, and an English proficiency test. Candidates can obtain the certificate issued by CGFNS only if they successfully meet the three conditions mentioned above.
- The CGFNS-CP Nursing Knowledge Qualification Exam is currently held three times a year in China, in March, July and November. The test is divided into two parts. The first part of the test is 2 hours and 30 minutes in the morning; the second part is performed in the afternoon and is 1 hour and 50 minutes.
- The CGFNS-CP certificate project qualification application shall be submitted to CGFNS directly by the applicant online or in writing. After passing the review, the defendant will be informed of the specific test time and place. Candidates will be notified directly by CGFNS.
- Admission
- 1. Only invigilators, registered candidates and authorized personnel are allowed to enter the test room. No other person may enter the examination room during the registration process or at any time during the examination.
- 2. Candidates should retain their admission tickets until the entire exam is completed. After the registration process is completed, candidates must immediately enter the examination room and sit in the designated position. CGFNS admission tickets and ID cards should be placed face up on the front of the table.
- 3. Candidates should arrive at the designated test center on time according to the time shown on their admission ticket:
- Once the test room door is closed and the test begins, latecomers will not be admitted.
- Candidates who are late will be informed that their late admission will interrupt the examination process.
- Candidates who are late can write to CGFNS explaining the specifics of being late.
- The following information is added to the violation report: the candidate's CGFNS identification number, name, arrival time, and reason for being late when arriving. The decision on the candidate's situation will be made by CGFNS.
- 4. Candidates should be seated in the designated position. This seat arrangement will not change during the afternoon session.
- During exam
- Desktop items
- Except for test papers, answer papers, pencils, erasers and pencil sharpeners, all candidates' desks must not contain any items that are not related to the test. The invigilator will repeatedly check that all books, notebooks, cameras, calculators, tape recorders, small paper sheets, micro-calculators, and any other unacceptable items have been removed after the candidates have taken their seats. Food, beverages, books, notebooks and other personal items must be left outside the test room or in a separate area from the candidate's seat. Valuables can be placed under the candidate's chair / seat.
- Writing drafts
- Use of manuscript papers or notes anywhere except on the test paper is strictly prohibited. If necessary, candidates can calculate the answer to the question in the margins of the test paper. The answer must be marked on the answer sheet, otherwise candidates will not be able to score. There is no extra time for writing the answer from the test paper to the answer paper.
- 3. Use external notes
- If anyone is found using the external notes for reference during the exam, the notes will be immediately confiscated and sent to CGFNS along with the violation report. Candidates will receive a warning notice.
- 4. Leave with permission
- Candidates may be allowed to leave the exam room temporarily. The proctor will be with you throughout their absence. Before the candidate leaves the examination room, the invigilator takes back and keeps his test papers and answers until the candidate returns to his seat. Candidates will not have extra time to complete the exam. Candidates are not allowed to take anything with them when they leave the examination room. Whenever possible, no more than two candidates are allowed to go to the bathroom at any one time.
- 5. Leave without permission
- Candidates who attempt to leave the examination room without the proctor's permission will not be allowed to return. Candidates are not allowed to bring test materials with them when leaving the test room. The examiner will take back the candidate's examination information and explain the incident in the violation report.
- 6, complete the exam in advance
- Candidates who finish the first part of the nurse exam or the second part of the nurse exam early can leave quietly one at a time. Before the candidate leaves the examination room, the invigilator will retract the candidate's test papers and answers. The proctor will also check that candidates have correctly filled in their name, CGFNS identification number, and signature on the answer sheet. Invigilators will inform candidates who leave early to return for the afternoon exam. Remind them to return on time.
- Please note: Candidates must not leave early after the Ten Minute Reminder has been announced.
- 7. Issue a warning notice
- When any unacceptable behavior occurs in the test room, a warning notice will be used. If any of the following actions occur, the original warning notice will be attached to the violation report, and a copy will be delivered to the candidate:
- (1) Failure to follow instructions. If the candidate writes some or all of his / her answer on the test paper, the candidate who wrote the answer on the test paper will have no grade. Candidates are not given extra time to write the answer from the test paper to the answer paper.
- (2) Give or get help. Candidates must not contact each other in any way while the test is in progress. If this happens, the examiner will fill out a warning notice. A copy of the warning notice will be delivered to candidates involved in this incident, and the original warning notice will be attached to the violation report.
- (3) Take away, record or take photos of the examination. If an examinee is found to take the test paper or answer sheet away from the examination room, or to record or take pictures, his behavior will be stopped immediately. The examiner will confiscate and degauss (tape) or expose (film) the tape and film to prevent the illegal distribution of test materials. Candidates will receive a warning notice. The entire process of the incident will be recorded in detail in the violation report. Candidates are suspended from other parts of the exam and are accompanied by the proctor to leave the exam room.
- In addition, candidates are not allowed to take photos of themselves or others after admission.
- (4) All timers, pagers and mobile phones must be turned off during the test.
- The use of a mobile phone during the test will be considered as endangering the test. The examiner or the person in charge of the test site will make a judgment on this and instruct the candidate to stop the test and withdraw.
- (5) Other abnormal conditions. The examiner has the right to stop any candidate who has interfered with others during the test. In this case, the examiner will withdraw the examination materials and instruct the candidate not to continue the examination. The full course of the incident will be explained in the violation report.
- Exit
- After the examiner announces that he or she will stop answering, candidates should immediately stop reading the test papers and answer questions, place the pencils, test papers, and answer cards on the table, sit in their seats, and look forward to keep quiet. The proctor will collect and count the test papers and answer cards in order. Candidates can leave the test room only after the examiner announces their withdrawal.
