In Dentistry, What Is a Lip Bumper?

World Dental Federation (FDI), FDI is an independent authority in the field of dental sciences and a non-governmental organization.

World Dental Union

Founded 105 years ago in Paris, France. This is why the three letters "FDI" stand for "Fédération Dentaire Internationale" in French or "World Dental Federation" in English. FDI is a federation of dental associations in 134 countries or territories, representing more than 900,000 dentists worldwide. FDI also has 36 members of the International Oral Health Organization. FDI represents the interests of these group members in different ways around the world-for example, by leveraging its special relationships with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations (UN) and other international organizations and governments. FDI headquarters is located in Ferney Voltaire, close to the Swiss border in France and close to Geneva. One of the purposes is to facilitate communication with the United Nations.
The World Dental Federation (FDI) is the world's oldest dental organization with the largest membership in the world. As a group of professional dentists, for more than 100 years, FDI has developed simultaneously with the world's dentistry and has become an international authoritative dental alliance organization, shouldering the mission of uniting and developing dental professionals worldwide. FDI now has more than 150 member countries and regions, representing more than 700,000 dental professionals worldwide. The Chinese Stomatological Association officially became a member of the World Dental Union in 1994. FDI uses the International Dental Journal, Developing Dentistry, and The Ferney Communiqué Newsletter to publish the latest progress in the dental field to dental professionals around the world, and to convey the latest news of FDI.

World Dental Alliance goals

FDI has an ambitious goal, which is "to promote oral health for people all over the world." To achieve this goal, we have formulated 4 tasks. Today I will introduce only two of them.
1. "Promote oral and physical health for people all over the world." This task provides a solid foundation for our cooperation with our partners. Our partners include dental associations in various countries, the World Health Organization, governments, non-governmental organizations and aid agencies, the dental industry and other organizations.
2. "Promoting Dental Ethics, Art, Science and Practice." To achieve this, FDI organizes continuing education programs around the world-reaching an average of one every three weeks in some regions. This is a unique achievement!

FDI World Dental Federation FDI Annual Meeting

The annual FDI annual conference is an international event in the dental field. It not only represents the latest development level and direction of dentistry in the world, but also an excellent communication opportunity for dentists around the world. The time and place of the FDI annual meeting are submitted by the national oral medicine (dentistry) societies, and the competition is determined. The process is like the bid for the Olympics. Therefore, the annual FDI annual meeting is called the "dental Olympics".

Components of the World Dental Alliance

The FDI Annual Conference is one of the conferences in the world known as the "Super Conference". The annual meeting consists of five parts:
1. Academic activities
This is the core content of the annual meeting. The FDI and the Chinese Stomatological Association jointly promote the latest developments in the dental field to dental professionals in China and the world. Here are some data:
"During the four days of the conference, four academic activities were conducted simultaneously in each segment.
"A total of 90 well-known international and domestic speakers will bring wonderful reports to the participants.
"At any time, at least 4,800 seats are available for attendees.
"In addition, there are" free communication "presentations and academic poster presentations-an estimated 200 presenters participated.
Simultaneous interpretation services in Mandarin / English are available during academic activities.
2. Seminars and forums
This section provides opportunities for those with special learning goals. The coverage is quite extensive-scientific research, dental practice, oral health development and promotion programs, dental education, dental ethics, and many others. This content is free for all interested participants.
3. Trade show
The trade show attracts exhibitors from all over the world, as well as Chinese manufacturers and businesses. Showcase of the latest dental equipment technology, tools and materials.
4. World Dental Council and Business Meeting
The FDI Council is held annually at the annual meeting. This is what makes the conference unique. Dental representatives from all over the world gathered at the FDI committee meeting to form the world's highest authority in the field of dentistry. Representatives from 71 countries in Montreal attended the meeting in 2005. Simultaneous translation is provided in seven languages. Other meetings include meetings of the FDI Board and committees, FDI regional organizations and three sub-parts (Public Health-Chief Dentist, Military Dentistry and Women in Dentistry).
During the FDI conference, many organizations hold their own annual conferences-such as the Commonwealth Dental Association, the International Dental Manufacturers Association, and so on.
5. Social activities
This is an important part of the FDI Annual Meeting. The main social event is the welcome ceremony. During the ceremony, senior government officials are usually present, and one of the most popular events is called "Name Rolling Out and Flag Display Ceremony." Displaying national flags is a pride for Member States, and it also shows the cohesion and friendship of the global dental family across cultures and national borders.

Through Unilever's global branches, we work closely with local oral care institutions to improve dental education and community dental care, and strengthen people's perception of oral health from a social foundation. In China, China Toothpaste works extensively with the Chinese Stomatological Association, one of the members of the FDI, to promote the oral health of the entire population.
The four-year "Chinese Oral Health Promotion Plan" aimed at improving oral health in poor and underdeveloped areas of China started in 1997. In 2000, it cooperated with the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health to provide fluoride toothpaste to poor areas.
