What Are the Different Types of Voice Disorders?
The most common cause of "slow speech development" is hearing loss, which is mostly caused by recurrent ear infections or "wet ears." Speech retardation may be a physical abnormality, such as "cerebral palsy," or it may be genetic. Children may have difficulty controlling the different body parts required for speech. If a child rarely talks or associates with his parents, he will speak later than other children. Children from bilingual families, left-handed, or both hands may also speak later.

- Specific speech articulation disorder
- Refers to a specific type of speech development disorder, manifested as a child's ability to use speech is lower than his intellectual age, but his speech skills are normal.
1. Difficult pronunciation, wrong pronunciation when speaking, making it difficult for others to understand. The severity of omitting, distorting or replacing the voice of the child when speaking has exceeded the range of variation of children of the same age;
2. Normal language understanding and expression ability (Wechsler Children's Intelligence Test, language IQ, operational IQ, and total IQ are 70);
3. Not caused by hearing impairment, oral disease, nervous system disease, mental retardation, or general developmental disorder.
- Expressive language disorder
- Refers to a specific speech and language developmental disorder. Children's ability to use oral expression is significantly lower than their intellectual age, but language comprehension is within the normal range, and abnormal pronunciation is optional.
1. Verbal expression ability is significantly lower than the actual age. I ca nt speak words when I am two years old, and I cannot speak short sentences of two words when I am three years old. When I am older, I still have less vocabulary, short speech, and syntax errors.
2. Language understanding ability is normal;
3. The normal IQ of the standardized test is normal (both the IQ and the total IQ of Wechsler Child Intelligence Test are 70);
4. Not caused by hearing impairment, oral disease, nervous system disease, mental retardation, or general developmental disorder.
- Receptive language disorder
- Refers to a specific language development disorder, children's understanding of language is lower than their intellectual age, almost all children's language expression is significantly impaired, and abnormal speech development is also common.
1. Speech comprehension ability is lower than the actual age. No response to familiar names at the age of 1; still unable to listen to everyday simple passwords at the age of 2; later on, the inability to understand grammatical structure, intonation, gestures, and other meanings of other people appeared, and its severity exceeded the range of variation of children of the same age;
2. Accompanied by abnormal language expression and pronunciation;
3. The non-verbal intelligence test IQ is at a normal level (Wechsler's intelligence test operation IQ is 70);
4. Not caused by hearing impairment, oral disease, nervous system disease, mental retardation, or general developmental disorder.
- 1. The language function is normal before the disease, and in the two years before and after the beginning of speech loss, there is paroxysmal EEG abnormality or seizures involving one or both temporal lobe
2. Normal non-verbal intelligence and hearing;
3. The total duration of severe impairment of expression or feeling of speech is not more than 6 months;
4. It is not caused by other neurological diseases or general developmental disorders.
