[1] Also known as listening bubble. It is the primordium of the inner ear of vertebrates. Ear bulbs were initially seen as thickened ectoderm near the epidermal region of the hindbrain of early embryos. This substrate is sometimes called the hearing board, and soon a vesicle formed by a layer of epithelium hangs beneath the epidermis. These vesicles are called ear vesicles; part of them later isolated from the ear vesicles to form the auditory nerve. In most vertebrates, the ear bulbs are roughly spherical in shape. Later, small protrusions appear near the inner side of the ear bubbles, which later form endolymphatic vessels. Cartilage fish ear vesicles are not connected to the epidermis at the beginning, so they communicate with the outside world through endolymphatic vessels. Later, the epithelial sac of the ear bubble undergoes a complicated morphological change, and three dyke-like protrusions appear on the surface, and then each becomes thin to form a semicircular canal. At the same time, it also differentiates into a small sac, a pouch and a lagena connected to it. Mammals are differentiated into cochlea. The ear vesicles are surrounded by mesenchymal origin, and later differentiate into medullary ear capsules.
[2] Equilibrium vesicles for invertebrates. Earphones have been called ear bubbles because they are thought to be related to hearing. The balance stones are also called otoliths or listening stones.
