What is Hibernom?
hibernom - hibernomata in plural - is a type of skin lesion or a benign tumor that consists of brown fat. It falls into the category of tumors called lipom and its main component is fat tissue, also known as body fat. The term hibernom comes from a brown fat reminiscent of fat found in some hibernation animals.
alternative terms for this condition include lipoma immature adipose tissues, fetal lipoma and lipoma embryonic fat. These terms apply to the origin of lipomas in the fetus or embryo. It is more common in women than in men and tends to occur during adulthood. Hibernomata usually occurs around the hips or on the back.
Hibernom is sometimes called skin condition because it affects the skin. More precisely, it is subcutaneous because it occurs under the skin. Furthermore, it can be divided into certain types. Mediastinal Hibernoma describes cases where the tumor is in mediastin, in an area that separates the lungs of other organs such as heart and esophagus. Another variant, uterine hibernom, occurs in the cervix, which is the neck of the uterus. Each cell is extended by several vacuoles filled with lipoids, which are small cavities in the cytoplasm. Lipomas are characterized by tumors formed by adipose tissue. They are also known as the most common type of soft tissue growth.
Hibernoma is one of the more rare types of lipoma, while surface subcutaneous lipoma is a species with the most incidents of occurrence. Other common types of lipoma include angiolipoma, which, unlike most lipomas, could be painful; Lipoma spindle cells that tend to appear on the neck, shoulders and back of the elderly; and lipomas of chondroids that are characterized by yellow pigmentation.
No one knows the exact cause of hibernom or other types of lipoma. Some medical scientists have suggested that lipomas are generally caused by certain injuries or attribute their occurrence of genetics. However, these hypotheses are warmly questionable.
hibernom,Like most other types of lipoma, it is considered harmful. This is because it is a benign tumor, which means that it lacks the ability to metastasize or spread. However, some medical scientists believe that there is a chance that Hibernom could turn into a malignant tumor that denotes cancer. Surgical excision or removal is the traditional treatment of Hibernomata.
