What is myotome?

Myotoma is most often defined as a group of muscles that are innervated by the only root of the spinal nerve. Tissue may include whole or parts of muscle. Myotoms are responsible for a significant number of motor functions. In embryology, myotoma is also defined as a tissue group that develops along the wall of the body in vertebrate embryos. The tissue later develops on several striped muscle groups, with the exception of those hearts. Myotoms are also responsible for fans and bending of the fingers, rotating the foot and bending the hip. Other motor functions include involuntary muscle movement in organs such as intestines, membranes and genitals. External stimuli register a feeling of touch on one or more dermatty, which then sends pulses to myotomes for a suitable body reaction. For example, when a finger is inserted into an open flame, Dermatome sends signals to the brain, indicating heat and pain. The brain will respond to conversion of myotom groups responsible for jerking your finger away from the flame.

doctors refer to myotoma maps to determine several symptoms of possible nerve damage. Together with reflective tests, muscle force tests in the areas supplied by myotomy can help diagnose any area in which nerve cell activity is insufficient or absent. These tests are often used in patients who have suffered spinal cord injuries. Alternatively, doctors can also use the patient's reported symptoms to identify damaged nerves according to their location on the map of myotoma.

In the case of serious nerve damage, physiotherapists can use myotoma maps to help with faster recovery. The stimulating areas of the body that cause myotome reaction can rehabilitate weakened nerves. The results of regular myotoma testing can be used to monitor the efficacy of therapy, allowing therapists to make appropriate adjustments in case of deficiencies.

Myotoms develop from somits in the wall of the body and divide into the dorsal and ventral parts, which then become different muscles of the trunk appropriate to their position. The deficiencies in the development of myotoma can lead to congenital defects such as quadriplegia and leptocurtic or hunched spine formation.
