What is a retention cyst?

Retention cyst or mucous membrane is a thin cyst that contains pure liquid and grows on the inner parts of the lips. This type of cyst is usually painless and may have a bluish color. The retention cyst can also develop on the floor of man's mouth and inside the faces, on the tongue or on the floor. People with pierced lips or punctured tongue may notice this type of cysts around the pierced area.

Retention cysts can grow after the individual sucks the lips between the teeth. In some cases, these cysts develop in a permanent wound on the inner part of the lips. Doctors often diagnose the retention cyst after visual exploration of growth inside the patient's mouth. The mucous membrane on the floor of the mouth can be called wound and cyst on gums can be referred to as epulis.

In many cases, the retention cyst disappears without treatment. Recurrent cysts must often be removed by a healthcare worker. Doctor, dentist or oral surgeon can open the upper part of the cyst sterile needle to release it or can cHirurgically to remove growth.

Doctors often use tests such as computed tomography or CT, scanning or magnetic resonance (MRI) test to diagnose mucocele.

People with previous facial operations or facial traumas have an increased risk of Mukocel. Some individuals with inflammatory diseases do notBo allergies have a better chance of growing inside their cavities. This type of cyst can develop in men or women of any age.

In some cases, mukocells of headaches, face pain or nasal obstruction cause. In this kind of cyst, more serious symptoms such as loss of vision and deformity of the face may occur. The cavities can spread from the excessive amount of pressure that Mukocells develop on the inside of the cavities. Doctors can treat mukocel by draining or removing them surgically.
