What is a subcutaneous cyst?
Subcutaneous cyst is an abnormal growth that develops under the skin surface. Although it is under the skin, these types of cysts can be visible by the outer layer of the skin. Growth is generally round and composed of tissue, liquid or other body materials, especially substances similar to wax produced by sebaceous glands. Subcutaneous cysts are usually not cancer or potentially serious and can often be treated permanently to reduce pain or for cosmetic reasons.
One of the possible causes of subcutaneous cyst is a bacterial infection that can lead to excessive pus or other liquid that accumulates under the skin. The infection can penetrate the basic layers of the skin through the wound or bites. Subcutaneous cysts can also be caused by storage of hair, skin tissue or liquid under the skin that is captured and forms a similar bag.
The main symptom of the subcutaneous cyst is visible round growth. When you press, the cyst can move slightly below the skin surface. The texture of the cyst may depend on itThe size, the amount of accumulated mass inside the cyst and the time it develops. Some subcutaneous cysts may be soft to the touch while others may have a harder texture. Some people can also experience pain when their cysts touch.
Subcutaneous cyst can in some cases be able to heal a non -surgical method. If the cyst is the result of a bacterial infection that has caused excessive accumulation of fluids below the skin surface, oral antibiotic drugs may be prescribed to kill bacteria and eliminate pus and other fluids causing the cyst. Corticosteroid drugs can also be prescribed as a possibility of treatment for subcutaneous cysts as they can help eliminate any inflammation and relax any trapped substances.
More serious subcutaneous cysts that do not respond to medication treatment will generally require surgery. The surgeon usually makes a cut under the skin and cut around the cyst,to completely remove it. If the cyst is able to remove surgically in one piece, it is more likely not to return. Cysts that are unable to remove in a fixed piece may have small areas that are behind, which is more likely to return in the future.
