What is considered to be a normal sperm?

Many men are afraid of sperm health, especially if they try to conceive. Factors that determine whether human semen are normal, include color, consistency, smell, volume, concentration of sperm and percentage of abnormalities. Normal sperm should have a cloudy, strong consistency that is cleaned within half an hour and may even have a slight odor of chlorine. At least 50% of sperm should have normal motility and morphology.

Normal sperm is usually white or gray. He usually thickens, then liquefied and fossilized. This change usually happens within half an hour. If the sperm remains thick, there may be a problem with dehydration, but this problem is usually cleaned in itself. If it does not return to normal after a few weeks, there may be a serious problem at hand. In addition, sperm, which is tinted red or yellow, normal, but if the color is pronounced and followed by a disgusting odor, infection or rare cases, cancer may occur.

The amount ejaculated should be between 1, 5 ml to 6 ml with anywhere between 20 million and 150 million sperm. Permanently low sperm volume may indicate other health problems such as diabetes, prostate infection or something blocking seed container. Usually, older men over 40 will have sperm volumes at the lower end of the scale.

Motility and morphology are particularly important factors for determining normal semen for fertility. The percentages that scientists usually seek differ, but on average should have at least 50% sperm normal mobility and morphology. However, it is not uncommon for a person to have normal sperm, but has just over 30% of sperm with normal morphology. The best way to find out if a man falls within this extent is sperm analysis.

If a person suspects that he may have unusual semen, he may want to have a sperm analysis. Most laboratories require a person to delay ejaculation anywhere between two and fiveEven days, and for the most accurate results, the sperm is analyzed in one or two hours. On some occasions, the laboratory may even ask that the test is repeated within three months. They usually only test normal motility and morphology, and although it is the main factor determining normal sperm, it is not always indicative of fertility.
