What is Finkelstein's test?

Finkelstein test is a diagnostic test in patients with wrist pain. It is usually used to determine whether the problem is caused by dequervane tenosynovitis. In a typical test, the doctor slowly pulls out the thumb of the patient and measures the reaction. Based on the description of the intensity and location of the patient, a diagnosis can be made.

Some versions of the Finkelstein test include different manipulations. The doctor may ask the patient to tighten his fist over the bent thumb.
