What Is Microalbuminuria?
Microalbuminuria refers to the presence of microalbumin in urine. Albumin is a normal protein in the blood, but only a small amount of albumin appears in urine under physiological conditions. Microalbuminuria can reflect protein abnormalities in the body, which are excreted by urine and are difficult to detect by conventional testing methods.
Basic Information
- Chinese name
- Microalbuminuria
- Clinical significance
- Early diagnosis of diabetes with kidney damage
- Precautions
- Urine culture specimens strictly adhere to the principles of aseptic manipulation
Microalbuminuria collection
- 1. Take urine at any time point and determine the ratio of albumin to creatinine. This method is more convenient for urine retention, and the results are relatively accurate, which is suitable for the day of the patient's examination.
2. Take 24h urine and measure the amount of albumin in 24h. The results of 24h urine measurement are reliable, but the collection is not convenient and it is not easy for patients to accept.
3. Keep urine for a period of time (4h or overnight) and measure the urinary albumin excretion rate.
Clinical significance of microalbuminuria
- 1. The change of urine microalbumin content can infer the severity of glomerular disease, which is helpful for the early diagnosis of glomerular disease.
2. Urinary microprotein determination is the most sensitive and reliable diagnostic indicator for early detection of renal disease.
3. Microalbuminuria can also be used to monitor drug toxicity, hyperbilirubinemia, and renal tubular function in newborns.
4. Early diagnosis of diabetes with renal damage.
Reference range of microalbuminuria normal value
- 1. Point of time urine albumin / creatinine reference range: 30 300mg / g
2.24h urine albumin reference range: 30 300mg / 24h
3.4h urine albumin reference range: 20 200g / min
Microalbuminuria precautions
- 1. Urine culture specimens strictly adhere to the principle of aseptic operation.
2. Fecal contamination should be avoided during urine collection. Once urine is contaminated, it should be collected again.
3. Check the information of the urine specimens. The urine specimens should be placed in a test tube rack after being collected and submitted for inspection in a timely manner.
