What is toxidrom?
The term toxidrom is used to describe the constellations of symptoms caused by an overdose by a drug. Understanding various toxidromes is important for healthcare workers because timely identification of the reason why the patient has a set of symptoms helps to facilitate rapid treatment. Examples include anticholinergic, cholinergic, sedative-hypnotic and sympathomimetic toxidromas.
