What is moniliasis?

Moniliasis is another term for candidiasis, infections caused by yeasts in the family Candida , especially c. Albicans . This term refers to the former name of the family for Candida , Monilia and people can also use terms as "thrush" to reference to the same infection. Treatment is available for monilis management and in some cases patients may be hospitalized to manage complex or concurrent infections, especially if they have basic health problems. In individuals with a compromised immune system, they can use weak points to grow in large numbers and create fungal colonies. In patients with moniliasis, white furry spots may occur around the infected area and the patient may develop a contradictory discharge caused by yeast metabolism. Common spots for infections include mouth, genitals and body folds.

Often, a quick physical test is sufficient to identify moniliasis in the patient, although the culture can be made to confirm the diagnosiszy. Medicines can be prescribed for killing yeast and patients can also use natural measures such as yogurt consumption to control the growth of bacteria by strengthening the number of beneficial organisms in the body. These organisms create a more acidic environment and kill the crisp yeast of Candida . Regular consumption of yoghurt with active cultures can also help reduce the risk of monilis in the first place.

In some patients, this infection may be very stubborn. People with tuberculosis, AIDS and other causes of serious immunocompromise are exposed to an increased risk because their bodies cannot contribute to the fight against infection. In these patients, yeasts may continue to grow and spread, causing pain and irritation. Aggressive medications may be needed to control their growth and infection may be repeated if the patient leaves drugs.

It is usually very treatable when it is caught early and people can complete treatment at home without worrying about other complications. If the infection does not respond to the prescribed drugs, it may be necessary to obtain a more thorough evaluation or switch medicines.
