What Is Omphalitis?
Vesicular ophthalmitis is a delayed allergic reaction of the conjunctival and corneal epithelium to an endogenous toxin, and is generally considered to be allergic to tuberculosis proteins. According to the location of the nodule, it is divided into vesicular conjunctivitis, vesicular keratoconjunctivitis, and vesicular keratitis. If the three sites appear simultaneously or successively, they are collectively called vesicular ophthalmitis. The disease can heal itself, but it is easy to relapse.

Basic Information
Causes of vesicular ophthalmitis
- Vesicular ophthalmitis is a delayed allergic reaction of the conjunctival and corneal epithelium to an endogenous toxin, and is generally considered to be allergic to tuberculosis proteins. It often occurs in female children and adolescents with nutritional disorders and adenopathy, and may also be caused by allergies to staphylococcus and intestinal parasitic diseases.
Clinical manifestations of vesicular ophthalmitis
- 1. Conscious symptoms, slight fear of light, tears, foreign body sensation; if the cornea is involved, there is a high degree of fear of light, tears, and eyelid spasm.
- 2. According to the location of the nodule, it is divided into vesicular conjunctivitis, vesicular keratoconjunctivitis, and vesicular keratitis. If the three parts appear simultaneously or successively, they are collectively called vesicular ophthalmitis.
- (1) Vesicular conjunctivitis One or several gray-white nodules appear in the bulbar conjunctiva, and the conjunctival congestion is limited around the nodules. After a few days, the top of the nodule ruptures and subsides, and heals after 1 to 2 weeks.
- (2) Vesicular keratoconjunctivitis The above nodules appear at the junction of the conjunctival cornea, slightly higher than the cornea, and the congested bulbar conjunctival blood vessels are fanned out, and the limbus is uneven after healing.
- (3) Vesicular keratitis Herpes is located on the cornea, which is grayish white, round, and different in size. It can become ulcers after ulceration, and scars can be left after healing. Herpes located on the edge often form superficial ulcers, recurrent, and gradually move to the center. And there is a bundle of blood vessels, like comet, called bundle keratitis. After healing, there were thin bundles of bundles.
Vesicular ophthalmitis treatment
- 1. Locally apply 0.5% cortisone acetate eye drops or 0.1% dexamethasone eye drops, 4 times a day, or inject 0.2-0.3 ml of hydrocortisone acetate under the conjunctiva. Apply tetracycline cortisone eye ointment or hydrocortisone acetate eye ointment in the evening, and treat with local and systemic antibiotics if necessary.
- 2. Pay attention to nutrition, exercise, and strengthen your physique. You can take riboflavin, cod liver oil and calcium.
