What is Pernio?
Pernio, also known as Chilblains or Perniosis, is an abnormal inflammatory reaction of small blood vessels in the skin. Inflammation may occur when the body heats up quickly after exposing cold temperatures. The condition appears to be small spots of red, itchy skin, which can later be nemo omodral. Pernio is usually not a serious health condition that responds well to treatment.
When a person is exposed to cold temperatures, small blood vessels in the body reduce. People who then heat up quickly by standing in front of a heater or in a hot shower often suppress too fast. While smaller blood vessels spread to warmer temperatures, larger blood vessels cannot cope with a sudden change. This results in blood leakage into nearby tissues, causing the development of pernio.
Those who have never experienced Pernio before can initially be the impression that they have a skin disease. Some symptoms are similar, for example, grinding, burning and pain. The skin can also blisters and slightly swollen. Patients notice that while withE skin initially turns red, a few hours later can be blue. Those who cannot adequately alleviate their symptoms with regular milk should see a doctor, but patients who also have diabetes or poor circulation should see a doctor immediately.
The doctor is likely to prescribe corticosteroid cream that will be applied to the affected areas of the skin to relieve itching and swelling. Sometimes the patient also uses blood pressure medicines to help spread blood vessels. Although there are no tests specifically for Pernio, the doctor will explore the patient's skin. If it notices that the skin is broken, cracked or can be infected, it also disinfects the area to prevent infection.
In addition to using drugs and skin water, the patient can alleviate its symptoms by keeping warm but not too hot. It should avoid any direct heat sources such as hand heating and heating blankets. Even ifIt may be tempting to scratch the skin, patients must withstand it because it may encourage infection. Those who have an infection should follow the doctor's commands to clean the area and apply antiseptics.
Pernio is usually not a dangerous health condition. Most patients notice that their skin is cleaned within one to three weeks. In order to avoid repeating the pernia, people should warmly dress before it comes out in cold weather. Especially it is important to keep your legs, hands and face warm. After leaving low temperatures, people should gradually heat up.
