What is Acromion?

Acromion, also known as the Acromion process, is the bony structure on the upper part of the shoulder blade or shoulder blade. It results from the ridge that passes horizontally the upper part of the shoulder on the back and protrudes at the top of the shoulder and forms a club shape. Coracoid joint, similar to a club -shaped protrusion, which is formed from the front of the blade and crosses laterally towards the joint of the shoulders, serves as a point of connection for the muscles of the deltooids and trapezoids. Its upper surface is convex and rough, fishing up and outwards above the shoulder joint, while its lower surface is concave and smooth.

Once the acromion function is to connect with the collar backyard to form an acromioclavicular (AC) joint. Here, the collarbones with a flattened side end meet the middle or internal boundary of the acromion process to create the type of synovial joint known as the sliding joint. In a sliding joint, neighboring bone opening around. As the joint surfaces of the collarbones and acromions slide against each other, they allow each other tothe effect of lifting the arm above the head.

Another purpose of acromion is to act as a place of muscle connection. On the shoulder of the middle deltooid fibers come on the side edge of the acromion process, crossed the shoulder joint and put into the deltoid tuberosity partly from the outside of the upper arm. The main function of the deltooid muscle, especially its middle fibers, is the abolition of the arm or lifts it laterally away from the body. This action occurs on Glenohumeral or shoulder, joint, but the connection of muscle to acromion provides a lever effect that helps lift the weight of the arm.

Trapezius muscle of the upper back, especially its middle fibers, also connects to Acromina. The middle trapezoid comes from the spinning processes of the thoracic vertebrae and passes the upper back horizontally and inserts into the middle edge of the acromion process. The function of the middle fibers of the trapezoid is to insert the shoulder blades, pull them back and society. This in turn pulls the arms back to the shoulder joint, the movement that starts between the shoulder blades and ends with the rear movement of the shoulders.
