How do I uninstall antivirus software?

The need to uninstall antivirus software can occur for many reasons. Usually, actions must be accepted when the user decides to go with a new type of antivirus protection and must make sure that the old is completely removed before installing the new product. When performing an antivirus uninstallation task, it is important to consider the type of operating system connected and the steps associated with the removal of any type of program from the hard disk that this system is running.

For most operating systems, the uninstallation process is relatively simple. The first step usually includes access to the screen that displays all installed software programs. Depending on how the system is configured, this list will usually be in alphabetical order, which will make it easier to find an antivirus program by name. With many more popular operating systems, the program to be removed will be the first step in the process.

At this point, the process used to uninstall antivirus software often requires a click on an icon that is either identified as "uninstall" or "delete". Assuming that the correct program has been emphasized, it will launch the opening of the program itself and start the uninstallation sequence. Depending on how the software is written itself, there may be a number of points in the sequence that the user must provide permissions to the procedure. For example, the software may ask several times whether some files should be removed from the hard drive. Almost all antivirus software programs will require the user to respond to the desire to proceed with the uninstalling of the action, usually by clicking on an icon that is marked "yes".

While the process of uninstalling antivirus software takes place, it is important that the user remains nearby, because the challenge to one or more questions may occur at any time in the sequence. Once the process is up toKoncched, it is not uncommon for activity to require the computer to be restarted before the changes will affect. Many programs will display a dialog box asking if the user wants to restart or postpone restarting until later. Usually it is good to close all other programs before uninstalling. If the programs are left open until the system asks for a restart, stop for a moment and closed all the remaining programs before moving forward. This will reduce the possibility of difficulty opening these other programs as soon as the system restarts and is ready to install new antivirus software.
