What is a gTLD?
A generic top-level domain (English: Generictop-leveldomain, gTLD) is a top-level domain used by some specific organizations. It is represented by the first few letters of the English name of the organization. For example, · com represents a business organization.

- In November 2000, a non-profit organization designed to monitor the distribution of domain names, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), approved seven new gTLDs, including .biz (for commercial use only), .info (open to all websites), .name (individual registration), .pro (limited to licensed occupations, including use by lawyers, doctors, and accountants), .aero (for all websites related to airborne transmissions), .museum (for museums) and .coop (for partnerships).
