What is GTLD?
The general domain of the highest level (GTLD) refers to these Internet domains with general address extensions. For example, .com , .NET , .edu , .gov and .mil all belongs to the category known as GTLD. The second category of domain domain names is the top -level domain of the country (CCTLD) . This category uses country code such as .us for the United States, .fr for France and .uk for the United Kingdom. Service Providers (ISP). Both enlargements used to be for general purposes when the Internet flourished and many people wanted domains that did not fall into the existing GTLD category. Internet Corporation for assigned names and numbers (ICANN) is a non -profit organization that supervises the eC domains. In November 2000, ICANN approved another GTLD, including .biz for businesses, . Further approval of nShe followed in June 2005, which was still in the process of implementation since spring 2006.

ICANN is considering many GTLD designs, several of which have been rejected, including .site and .dot . On May 6, 2006, ICANN voted to expand .xxx for adult content sites. Their voice was reportedly based at least partly on issues raised in public comments generated on the ICANN feedback website. While many encourage ICANN to add further extensions to create space for the amount of websites that are created every year, others believe it is a bad idea. Those who oppose the further expansion of GTLDS stimulate cyber and trade mark violations.
