What is the line printer?

LINE matrix printer is a type of computer printer, which is often used in office and accounting environments where a large number of printing is required using the speed of the line printer technology. The mechanism of using a line matrix printer is similar to the DOT matrix printer in that several dots are used to create completed letters or graphics, although hammers are used instead of small pegs. Press the Hammers on the page by pressing the ink ribbon similar to the type of typewriter by transferring the ink to the target page. Many printers have the ability to hold wide sheets with continuous feed, which are more convenient to print large messages, although paper must be calibrated when originally brought into the machine and can cause problems if the paper moves during printing. In addition to text and other standard print symbols, the printer is able to produce graphics, although the system drives them to black and white images.

6 shuttle is very wide, usually just slightly smaller thanthe maximum width of the paper that the machine can accept. Magnets inside the shuttle lock each of the Hammers in place, while the lower part of the hammer is strained against the spring device. When a hammer has to make a dot on paper during the printing, the hammer is released from the magnetic field and shoots forward until the paper interferes. Once the brand is made, the magnet is reactivated and the hammer returns to its locked position, ready for re -release.

The wide shuttle of the line printer does not swear from one side of the page to the other, because the dot missile transport can do, but instead it only moves by a short distance because it is almost as horizontally wide as the whole page. More hammer can fire, a few at the same time to quickly create a number of dots. Once each line is completed, the page is automatically tilted by one row of dots and a printing renewal. Dots are used to create letters and symbols, and these same dots can be used to create black and white graphics on the page. The fact that a physical and impact method is used also means that forms that use carbon to make multiple copies can be used in a line printer.
