What is Murkogram?

Murkogram is a type of spam e -mail that has several distinctive features. Most of the spam can be described as an unsolicited commercial e -mail (UCE) because they try to sell something without getting your permission to contact you in the first place. However, Murkogram is unique in that it is also trying to convince you that the UCE you receive is absolutely legal by law.

The name Murkogram is named after the American senator Frank Murkowski. In 1999, the US Senate considered a bill called S. 1618. The bill was also called a slab account and mainly concerns the business of companies that provided long -distance providers without an explicit customer. Senator Murkowski has decided to connect the section to S.1618 called Title III or Personal Data Protection Act that requires all UCE to include the company's name, contact information, physical and e -mail address and instructions on how to remove your e -mailThe address from the reception of the future other e -mail.

The House of Representatives did not like this provision and removed it. Therefore, there is no part of Title III S. 1618. The reason why this small legal lesson is important is due to phrasing in Murkogram. Most murcograms will quote that they are in line with Bill s.1618, Title III. Consumers therefore cannot complain or do anything about accepting UCE of this kind.

This is not true. There is no head III section, so Murkogram uses a fake law to prevent consumers to complain about spam. There are several other laws that "died" in a house or Senate that you could see quoted in Murkogram. They include H.R. 3888, which included in its initial version, some language that would seem to protect spaming activity. This language has been removed and the bill has never become a law. Another frequently quoted Bill is H.R. 4176, which, like 3888, was never made to the law.

what Murkogram is trying to keep you to get spam e -mail by linking to laws or provisions that do not exist. They hope that they sound "official" that they will not receive complaints from users. There are many companies that provide information about the type proposed by Senator Murkowski and where it is quite easy to log out of lists, several companies are very difficult in this respect.

Murcograms are now strictly illegal, thanks to the US Federal Act, the S-SPAM Act, signed in the 2004 legislation. This is "logging out" where people can unsubscribe to UCE creators. However, the law also defines the fraud contained in e -mails as criminal behavior.

This means that any murcogram you receive is illegal because it creates a statement of laws that do not exist and suggests that you have no means to prevent such a mail in the future. MostPeople Comply with Can-Spam and currently send fewer murcograms. If you receive one, you may want to work with your e -mail or internet provider to report this illegal behavior.
