What is the edge connector?

The edge connector is a double -sided electrical connector that allows the connection of two boards with terminal edges. It is very common in computer hardware that the motherboard connects to a number of subsidiaries or cards. The edge connector can also connect to the ribbon cable and then to another edge connector that connects to another circuit board. The conductive edges of the boards require good contact with the edge of the edge connector, so the edges are usually plated with high -performance metals with good conductivity and good resistance to oxidation caused by moisture in the air. edge connectors used for computer cards are designed to connect to the earlier integrated drive electronics connector or later interconnection of peripheral components. Both connectors include power lines, address and data bus and other control lines. Replacing different types of computer interface cards, for removing and testing problems, is very easy due to edge connectors.
