What is an Internet Service Provider?

Internet Service Provider (ISP), referred to as ISP, refers to the operator who provides the following information services to the public: first, access services, which help users access the Internet; second, navigation services, which help users on the Internet Find the required information; the third is information services, that is, the establishment of a data service system to collect, process and store information, regularly maintain updates, and provide users with information content services through the network.

An ISP is an environment that maintains a continuous connection with the Internet, and provides the environment to the general public. We can connect to the Internet by accessing the ISP (while different ISPs provide different access environments).

And it is classified according to whether the ISP is directly connected to the backbone network or indirectly connected to the backbone network through the ISP directly connected to the backbone network. The former is called a Tier 1 provider and the latter is called a Tier 2 provider (there are also Tier 3 providers). ^[3]

Modem is a combination of two English abbreviations of MOdulatorDEModulator. Translated into Chinese is "modem", which is also called "modem" or "magic power" in Taiwan. Modem's main function is to convert data between digital signals and analog signals to achieve transmission on the telephone line.

This access method is commonly referred to as dial-up Internet access. It is the most familiar one and the most widely used Internet access method at home.
