What is the uplink port?

Port Flink is a connection port of connection on a switch, hub or router that allows connection of circuits to receive circuits via a standard type cable, allowing the connection of one computer network to another network. This type of port differs from a conventional port in that a conventional port requires a cross cable for communication between two types of circuits. The uplink port is able to communicate between different circuits with a standard cable and is usually used to connect a modem with a router and connect the device together. This prevents the need to use a crossover cable when connecting a computer with an Internet or network using a router or by connecting a single network to another. If both ends are connected via the Sukink port, the connection does not translate any data and cannot communicate between the two devices. This means that, like the device, they will have to be connected to one end of the cable in the Produink port on one device and the other end connected to a regular port on the other device. Ifwould have to be joined by two uplink ports together between devices, it is necessary to use a crossover cable.

Most hubs, switches and routers are equipped with an uplink port to facilitate available connection types. Some of these devices will be switched by a switch that turns the port between conventional connections and connecting. There are also devices that change the type of port connection that allow, depending on how it is connected, which means that it detects the needs of the uplink port and switches accordingly. Some devices do not have ports for double purpose, but instead are equipped with a shared port. This means uplink shares a connection with a normal port and both cannot be connected simultaneously.

The uplink ports are sometimes called medium -dependent ports (MRI). The computer cannot be directly connected to the uplink port using a conventional connection wire type. To direct port connection to connect a portA cross wire is required to connect the port. Crossover wires work much in the same way as the uplink ports and allow the connection of the circuits to receive for transmission of circuits through the conductor itself. The uplink does this with a normal wire and combines a different type of circuits in the port itself.
