What is ExpressCard?

ExpressCard is a new technology that is inserted into the computer system to allow the addition of hardware capabilities. ExpressCard was introduced by the International Memory Card Card (PCMCIA) in 2003 and is a thinner, lighter and faster modular extension for desktop and notebook users. Hardware functions such as other memory, cable and wireless communication tools and safety devices can be added by inserting these modules into the system.

The ExpressCard module comes in two sizes. The Express Card/34 is 34 mm wide, while the express card/54 is 54 mm wide. The modules are 5 mm high and 75 mm long. The 34 mm module has the advantage that it may fit in the slot designed for a 54 mm card, but not the other way around. ExpressCard simply inserts into the USB interface, which is already integrated on most desktops and laptops. ExpressCard will also have the size of the power, thermal scattering and the circuit to provide the series DalSewing applications, including multimedia applications such as TV tuners, video catching and more monitors. It will also have storage devices such as solid condition (flash) and small rotating magnetic and rotating microphones.

ExpressCard will also have adapters such as Flash memory cards as well as built -in security and identity sensors. Most of these applications will be built into a smaller size of 34 mm, but there are some that will only be available in a larger size of 54 mm. Smartcard readers, some hard drives and compact flash readers are too large to be incorporated into ExpressCard/34 and are only available in larger size. At the time of technology evolving, all applications will be available for 4 mm.

ExpressCard technology provides users with computing “closed box” in the PC Card. Earlier, to add hardware toDesktop computer, it was necessary to open the computer using a screwdriver to add a new card. With ExpressCard, you are simply on the card on an existing expansion slot. This makes it easier to adapt and help maintain costs. It is not necessary for computers to ensure that inside the computer will be suitable space for security and check -in.

The system developers welcomed the ExpressCard technology with an open weapon due to the number of advantages it offers. The cards pair the expansion devices with higher performance and use less space. This technology also supports future implementation and high -performance technology and helps reduce costs due to standardization. ExpressCard has received support from most leading technology manufacturers today.
