- Professor Yu Shuxun, a researcher, was born in Beijing in 1919. He graduated from the Department of Horticulture of Zhejiang University in 1942. He was an assistant professor and lecturer at the Agricultural College of Yunnan University from 1942 to 1948. He went to Hanoi University in Vietnam to study tropical plants from 1948 to 1949; He studied gardening at the Royal Danish College in 1952, and from 1952 to 1964 in the Department of Horticulture of Wuhan University, the Department of Landscape Architecture of Huazhong Agricultural College, the Department of Landscape Architecture of Wuhan Urban Construction College, the Department of Urban and Residential Greening of Beijing Forestry College, and the Department of Landscape Architecture of Beijing Agricultural College Concurrently) taught and worked in the botanical garden of the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences from 1964 to 1988. During this period, Professor Yu Shuxun went to the University of Minnesota Landscape Tree Garden as a visiting scholar from 1980 to 1981. From 1992 to 1996, Professor Yu went to South Korea, Thailand, and the United States to participate in international conferences. In 1997, he taught in Taiwan and the United Kingdom. Since 1985, he has also served as the editor-in-chief of Chinese Garden Magazine. Now he is also the director (legal person) of China Landscape Architecture Planning and Design Research Center of the Ministry of Urban Construction.
