What is Joomla ™?

Joomla ™ is a content management system used to create a website. Joomla ™ allows web designers to construct modules with a combination of modules and require no knowledge of programming. The Joomla ™ framework is written in PHP, as well as the modules used to customize the website. There are a number of modules, including RSS channels, public opinion surveys and language internationalization, which makes Joomla ™ users easier to publish content on the web, even with a minimum web design experience. Joomla ™ can also be used to publish information about intranet, making it a useful organizational tool.

Because the Joomla ™ code is an open source, anyone is able to write modules and system extensions, which is very adaptable. These modules are available for download, usually through the website of their creators. Many web designers also create Joomla ™ design elements called "themes", which will then make available download. Not all Joomla & Trade; Themes are allFor free and many web designers will make custom topics for the price. Joomla ™ is often described as easier to use, but Drupal seems more adaptable if the user is able to solve technical problems. One of the key features of Joomla ™ is its graphical interface, which has less learning curves than the Drupals menu system.

The name "Joomla" is a transcript of the Svahilian word, which means "everything together" or "as a whole". It was selected as part of the Re-Branding process for software originally developed as part of the Mambo content management system. Mambo was a controversy center that challenged what software with open source code was, and members of the Foundation accused of financing the project were charged with planning the capitalization company. Mambo's Development Drinky T for a tough team left the project and released the first version of Joomla ™ - basically Mambo version 4.5.2.3 - in 2005.
