What Are Brick Piers?
Column pier, also called pier foundation, is generally located at the upper part of the raft foundation and at the root of the column. Independent rigid foundations with a burial depth greater than 3m, a diameter of not less than 800mm, and a ratio of the burial depth to the diameter of the pier body less than 6 or the ratio of the burial depth to the diameter of the enlarged bottom less than 4 can be designed as pier foundations. The effective length of the pier should not exceed 5m.
Pier
- Mostly used in multi-story buildings, because
- Single pier
- The pier concrete strength level should not be lower than C20.
- When the pier body uses structural reinforcement, the longitudinal reinforcement is not less than 812mm, the reinforcement ratio is not less than 0.15%, the length of the longitudinal reinforcement is not less than one-third of the pier height, and the stirrup 8 @ 250mm.
- For the pier foundation of a column and a pier, the connection between the column and the pier, and the structure of the pier cap (or cap) should be determined comprehensively according to the design level, load size, arrangement of the connecting beams, etc. Connects directly to the column. When the pier is directly connected to the column, the minimum distance between the column edge and the periphery of the pier shall meet the national standard "Code for Design of Building Foundations" GB50007-2002 Table 8.2.5-2 Cup wall thickness requirements and local pressure Check calculations. When the connection between the column and the pier does not meet the requirements of the solid connection, connecting beams shall be provided in both directions. The cross-section and reinforcement of the connecting beam shall be determined by calculation.
- The pier foundation under the wall is mostly used for multi-layer brick-concrete structure buildings. The horizontal force is not considered in the design. The connection between the foundation beam under the wall and the pier roof only needs to consider the structural requirements, and it can be inserted by reinforcement. A pier cap consistent with the cross section of the pier can be set, the bottom of the pier cap can be the same as the elevation of the foundation beam, and cast once with the foundation beam. Setting the pier cap on the top of the pier can ensure the integral connection between the pier and the foundation beam. The reinforcement structure can refer to the beam-column connection on the top layer of the frame, and should meet the requirements of the anchoring length of the reinforcement.
- The pier foundation should be constructed by manual digging and mechanical drilling. The diameter of the bottom of the pier should not be larger than 2.5 times the diameter of the pier.
- When the elevations of the adjacent pier bottoms are the same, the pier positions are arranged according to the requirements of the superstructure and the construction conditions, and the center distance of the pier can be unlimited. When the bearing layer fluctuates greatly, the relationship between the height difference between the bottom of the adjacent pier and the center distance of the pier should be comprehensively considered, and the stability calculation of the bearing layer should be performed.
- The depth of the bottom of the pier into the bearing layer should not be less than 300mm. When the bearing layer is moderately weathered, slightly weathered, unweathered rock, under the condition of ensuring the stability of the pier foundation, the bottom of the pier can be directly placed on the rock surface. When the rock surface is uneven, it should be leveled or cut into steps .
