What are the different types of adhesives?

adhesives are natural or synthetic compounds, usually in the form of liquid or paste used to connect two objects together. Depending on how they create bindings, adhesives can be categorized as sensitive, reactive, drying, contact, healing light or thermoplastic. Their strength and the way they react with other substances can vary very much, so it is always wise to use the right adhesive for work.

pressure sensitive adhesives come in permanent and removable forms. Examples of permanent varieties are foil tape used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC), safety equipment and warning labels on machines and appliances, and to ensure interior cropping in vehicles. They can be removable when they are applied for the first time, with the building of the power of adhesion over hours or even days.

Removable adhesives create a temporary bond and usually cannot support a significant amount of weight. Common examplesK are masking tape, sticky notes and price labels. They are also used in the production of transdermal patches, such as stains for smoking cessation, birth control and movement disease prevention. This type of adhesive is also part of common bandages such as Band-Aids®.

Reactive adhesives are applied in the form of liquid as a very thin layer. They are best used to attach items that must be completely flushed and do not require glue to fill the gap between them. The reactive type of adhesive is suitable for gluing wood, many plastic, metal and glass. This type of adhesive usually has a rapid speed accumulation with a very fast setting time.

Adhesive drying is a combination of polymers and solvents. The adhesive stiffens when the solvent evaporates. Ordinary white adhesive is one of the most respected adhesives of this type along with the rub -theme. Creating a relatively weak bond, drying lePiles are usually suitable for the use of households, schools and crafts.

Contact adhesives are unusual in that they must be applied to both surfaces to be connected, and then allowed to dry the objects before the objects are pressed together. Neoprene and natural rubber are two common examples. Applications include attaching soles to shoes and Formica® connection for counter -boards.

The glue to cure light sets up quickly, some as fast as in one second. These extremely thick adhesives are able to combine different materials such as glass plastic and are able to maintain integrity under the extremes of temperature. The glue for cure light is used almost exclusively in industrial environments such as production, air application, electronics, medical equipment and telecommunications.

Thermoplastic adhesives are also called adhesive adhesive. As the name suggests, these adhesives are applied hot, then they harden.
