What Are the Advantages of Polystyrene Ceiling Tiles?

Polystyrene board-also known as foam board, EPS board is a white object made of expandable polystyrene beads containing a volatile liquid foaming agent and heated in a mold after pre-heating. The structural characteristics of the holes are mainly used in building walls, roof insulation, composite board insulation, cold storage, air conditioning, vehicles, ships, thermal insulation, floor heating, decoration carving and other uses.

Polystyrene board thermal insulation performance

The insulation performance of EPS and XPS with the same thickness is gradually increasing. EPS is 0.041 and XPS is 0.030. Therefore, in the case of achieving the same thermal insulation effect, XPS sheet is thinner than EPS sheet, but the price of pure sheet XPS sheet is more expensive than EPS sheet.

Polystyrene board strength

The strength indicated here should be tensile strength. The bulk density of polystyrene board has an absolute relationship with tensile strength. Generally, the tensile strength of EPS with a bulk density of 18Kg / m3 is 110 ~ 120KPa, and the bulk density of 20Kg / m3 is about 140KPa. The bulk density of XPS is normally from 25Kg to 45Kg, and the strength is from 150KPa to 700KPa or higher. (The premise is to meet the thermal conductivity of about 0.03).

Weather resistance of polystyrene board

Weather resistance refers to the ability of the insulation system to adapt to external weather changes, and refers to a series of quality-related issues such as the overall stability of the system and whether the insulation effect changes under different climatic conditions. Weatherability is a very important indicator of insulation systems.
Because EPS board has higher water absorption compared with XPS, its weather resistance is not as good as XPS system. However, the ductility of EPS boards is better than that of XPS boards, which can overcome certain defects. However, as far as the system is concerned, the plaster on the outer layer of the thin plastering system itself is also waterproof. Except during the construction process, the waterproof performance of the two systems is intact. The contact of rainwater on the external wall with the wall surface is vertical. As long as the surface mortar does not crack, there is no problem in waterproofing.
In addition, the wind pressure resistance is also an important item in weather resistance, because the more the system has a cavity, the worse the wind pressure resistance. So the key point is to look at the size of the bonding area between the entire insulation system and the base. There is no problem with both the XPS system and the EPS system.

Adhesive strength of polystyrene board

For the thin plastering system, this index will directly affect the use of the board. The strength of the EPS board is low and the shear strength is also low. The damage of the board may not be on the bonding surface, but directly in the middle of the board. , XPS's good strength performance is more assured. A tensile strength of 0.1 MPa is equivalent to saying that the tensile strength of each square meter is a force of 10 tons, which is very large.
