What are the different types of silicone seals?
Silicone is one of the most commonly used materials for the production of sealing elements. This popularity is not in a small part due to excellent flexibility and work characteristics of material. Silicone seals can be made of different silicone stages including rubber, foam and ubiquitous silicone gel sealants. Solid silicone seal can be flat, seal types or extruded in the form of continuous cords. Gel silicone seals are generally available in baths or tubes. These include excellent resistance to extreme temperatures, a good section, compression and shear strength and resistance to a wide range of chemicals and environmental exposure. These properties cause silicone seals ideal for applications with aggressive environmental conditions, chemical exposure and high pressures. Especially suitable for internal sealing applications, the integrity of seals is achieved by compression.
In the production of silicone seals, several types of silicone materials are used. Those can bI can classify as solid or liquid seal variants. Solid silicone seals are usually made of silicone rubber and foam. These products are either formed or extruded in a flat or round cord. The sealing type seals are a good example of a flat sheet seal. They can be tailored in their final shape or cut off from the warehouse sheets to suit the application. These seals are usually compressed between two mating to prevent gas or fluid leaks.
The cord seal is also produced in the form of a finished product or inventory length. They can be solid or hollow and are available in a wide range of cross -section profiles. Good examples of this type of gasket are O-rings and door seals. These products can also be made of silicone rubber or FOAM. The silicone seal of the cord is also primarily used in compression, internal applications of seals.
silicone sealThe fluids are usually available as viscous gel solutions in baths or tubes. It is one of the most widely used agents seals of general purpose for industrial and home applications. These include sealing of sanitary wear, electrical equipment, pipeline and wide range of seals. The gel silicone seal can be used as a compression seal between the mating parts or as a surface seal. Many degrees of fluid are available for a wide range of specific applications, but most of them are resistant to heat, chemical and mold.
