What is Collet?

Collet is a metal strip located around the wooden pole to prevent its distribution. In production, the Collet is the type of chuck used to hold cylindrical objects in the lathe. This type of chuck is a device similar to the metal cone that surrounds the work and applies the same amount of order pressure to the entire perimeter of the piece. Much more accurate than more jaw chuck, Collet holds a working piece for demanding tolerance. Its disadvantage is that it is usually suitable for only one size of a working piece. Chuck, however, changes very easily when there is a need to work on a different size of stocks. Many manufacturers use this type of chuck to complete very accurate operations and perform very detailed work. Special RGENCY -type eMocoles can be machined to hold different inventory shapes and different sizes.

Most clamps are made of special hardened steel to hold many cycles of use as would beTypical in a high -volume production environment. However, there are brass tracks and even nylon, which can be made to organize special work pieces. These slides can also be made in steps models that are machined to hold shorter pieces that have a larger diameter than a standard chuck size.

There are several advantages to use Clut Chuck over self-centered or multi-jaw type Chuck. To decipher what type of chuck to use should be considered some key points. The spindle speed is essential for Chuck selection. A high -speed tool requires a lower weight chuck above the higher weight and weight of the clamping center. Lighter weight and less weight allow the slide to speed up the fastest way.

6 Also, when parts are less than three inches in diameter, this type of chuck is preferred due to its maintenance force and easy operating tendencies. When performing multiple operating cuts on the workpiece, Collet provides much stricter tolerance of clamping,This ensures that the result of different steps is accurate.
