What is a drum filter?

The drum filter is a large, cylindrical machine that is usually used in industrial applications for filter fluid bearing a high concentration of suspended solids. The rotary filter of the drum works by drawing water through its external filter surface into the inner vacuum using an inner vacuum. The suspended solids in the water are captured on the drum surface and the filtered water is then pumped. Drum filters can use removable filter panels of the screen type or have a sieve of openings for use with filter coating on their surface. The drum filters have a minimum of moving parts and are cheap for operation and maintenance.
