What is the moisture probe?

Air has the ability to absorb water vapor. This steam is usually formed when evaporation or when hot water emits steam. The amount of water vapor that can be absorbed depends mainly on temperature. Moisture is a measure of the presence of water vapor in the air or gas. Because the levels of humidity vary according to temperature changes, the temperature measurement and recording and the amount of humidity in the air or gas can be used. Relative humidity is a measure of the amount of water vapor in the air or gas compared to the maximum amount of steam that can be absorbed at a given temperature. The air that contains the maximum amount is often referred to as saturated . Relative humidity is expressed as a percentage of saturation.

Moisture measurement and control is important in many production processes. Examples include pharmacies, microelectronics and medical devices and equipment. Moisture can affect the expansion and contraction of the material, the properties of the liquid flow, the growth of bacteria and the speed of corrosion and rust.

Moisture probe can be purchased as portable pocket units or as permanent monitors for applications requiring continuous moisture detection. These meters come with a wide range of functions and usually include some analytical abilities. After a predetermined period of use, the probe moisture should be removed from operation and returned to the laboratory for routine testing and recalibration. Calibration of the moisture probe is usually performed in the environmental chamber under fixed temperature conditions.

The frequently used type of moisture probe is a capacity sensor. Changes in electrical capacitance, which is the ability of the material to maintain an electric charge, because of the elements of a metal reduction of metal water reduction. Change in capacity corresponds to a change in moisture. Capacity sensors are generally accurate and require recalibration every two to three years.

too much moisture can negatively influenceivnit the performance of material or product. Most materials contain a certain water or moisture content and either release water vapor or soak moisture from the surroundings. In many applications, the detection and control of the moisture level in the material or product is important. The moisture analyzer can be used to determine the moisture content in the material or solution. These types of analyzers are often used in pharmaceutical production, preparation for chemicals and food preparation to ensure the level of moisture in the final product meets the specifications.
