What is a welding flange?

The welding flange is a device used to connect two pieces of pipes in a screw fashion. Unlike the flat flange, which, as the name suggests, a flat, steel flange that can be welded to the pipe, has a flange of a tapering cone device processed into the pipe side of the flange. This narrowing starts to the flange wide and gradually shrinks until it corresponds to the pipe diameter that is designed to fit. It is used on hot and cold high -pressure pipes, narrowing in the weld flange reduces turbulence to the joint of the pipeline and adds strength to withstand the constant bending of the joint due to temperature and pressure changes.

The most common weld used to connect the welding flange to the pipe is known as a butt or welding weld. To complete this weld, the welder uses a grinder to make a narrowing at the end of the pipe and at the end of the narrowing to the weld flange. When placing together, create both tapering V shape, which is then filled with weld. This Typeweld provides the largest amount of penetrationCE for both the pipe and the flange, and therefore gives the greatest strength of the joint or connection. This type of weld is also a good choice when the weld must be X -ray.

The medium opening on the weld flange is bored as the same diameter as the inside of the pipe to be mounted. This creates a joint with the least amount of flow restrictions when creating a joint in the pipeline. The narrowing of the weld flange is also representative for the weight of the pipe, which is equipped with a lighter weight that requires a larger hole and a heavier weight pipe requiring a smaller opening. This is done to maintain conformity inside the connection of the flange and reduce the turbulence of the flowing liquid.

applications where the welding type flange is required can range from a serious, cold climate to a dangerously hot environment of high -pressure application. Added material in disappointed flanges of weld flanges that usually provide increased strength in comparisonThe flange of the flange in the same or comparable installation Smooth liquid transition caused by lack of turbulence inside the connection reduces the amount of routine maintenance of the pipeline that must be made.
