What is a multi -core cable?
Multiple cable is any electrical cable that has multiple lines that would normally be in a cable of this type. If the cable usually has four lines in it, it is not multiple, if it only has four lines. If the same cable had another four lines, a total of eight, it would be a multicore cable. These cables are very common in construction, audio and video and civilian construction. The term is sufficiently general that multicore cables can be any design or function.
In general, the electrical cable is a simple thing. The insulator is covered with a central core made of conductive material, often copper. This insulator is then covered with a hard sheath to protect the core, and the whole thing is covered with plastic to prevent oxidation and provide additional protection. While some cables can use twisted kernels, board or even give up the layer completely, the basic design rarely changes.

Some cables have more core function. These cables will usually have several cores in the insulator and then a hard sheath and plastic coating cover the cores as one cable. Sometimes multicore cables omit a hard protective cloak to make the wiring bundle too heavy. The end of the cable will often have a large inlet panel where a wide range of different filling cables can connect to a larger cable. This design is particularly common for audio and video work, where this type of multicore cable is called a snake.
