What is a peristaltic pump?
Peristaltic pump works according to pressure and shift. It is mainly used to pump liquids through a tube that differs from most other pumps in which parts of the pump actually come into direct contact with the liquid. It is one of the most common types of tools used to draw liquids, especially in the medical environment. Because the mechanical functioning of the peristaltic pump never comes into contact with the liquid directly, it has a number of uses, especially in situations where sterile fluids are required. The liquid then flows into the pump shell with a hose. Once there is, the rotor with several cylinders compresses the tube that pushes the liquid on the pump and directs it to its final destination. This technique is known as peristalsis. This tool is therefore called a peristaltic pump. Therefore, the hoses must always come to the same liquid. However, this does not necessarily reduce the functioning of the pump because the hose can be turned off. This is often done, for example, in cases where liquid is drawn.
The pump also offers additional benefits. For example, because the inside of the peristaltic pump is dry, it is less necessary to worry that it must protect the pump from moisture. Moisture remains inside the tube. Therefore, because less waterproofing is needed, the peristaltic pump is often cheaper to produce compared to a liquid pump.
The peristaltic pump must also be able to meet several different requirements. First, the type of liquid should not be so corrosive for hose material. It is very important that it does not damage inside the pump cover. The second point of view is that the tube must be flexibible or durable enough to handle the constant repetition of a compressed, maybe thousands of time per hour.
Given the problem of sterility, the peristaltic pump finds itself most useful in the medical environment. It can be used in dialysis machines, machines for drawing heartsand IV machines. In addition, it can also be used for liquids for consumption. The costs of the peristaltic pump may vary very much depending on the application and the energy source.
