Recycle Bin Introduction

Recycle Bin icon (Windows)
Users using Windows are no strangers to the Recycle Bin, which gives us a dose of "regret medicine". The Recycle Bin holds files, folders, pictures, shortcuts, Web pages, and more that you delete. These items will remain in the Recycle Bin until you empty the Recycle Bin. Many of our accidentally deleted files were found in it. The flexibility to use a variety of techniques allows you to use the Recycle Bin more efficiently and better for yourself.
In the pre-Windows 95 era, when a user deleted a file, that file disappeared. If you find that you should delete files that should not be deleted, you need to use other tools to recover. Nowadays, Windows' "Recycle Bin" is much more forgiving, and its distinguishing feature is that things thrown in can be "picked back".
The Recycle Bin is a special folder that is hidden in the RECYCLER folder under the root directory of each hard disk partition by default. When you delete a file and move it to the recycle bin, you essentially put it in this folder and still take up disk space. Only deleting it in the recycle bin or emptying the recycle bin can really delete files and get more disk space for the computer.
Regarding the recycle bin, it is generally considered to be a garbage dump and there is not much to learn. In fact, using the recycle bin still requires some skills, which may sometimes have unexpected results.

Recycle Bin Details

Overview of attributes
Right-click the recycle bin and click "Properties". There are global label items and disk label items (referring to each partition of your disk) in the properties dialog.
In the global label items, there are Independently configured drives, All drives use the same settings, Do nt move files to the recycle bin when deleting, but delete them completely, Show delete confirmation dialog box, among which Independently configured drives "Means that the user sets the percentage of disk space occupied by the recycle bin based on the size of each disk;" all drives use the same setting "means that the percentage of space occupied by all disk recycle bins is the same and set uniformly;" do not delete when "Move files to the recycle bin, but delete them completely" means that when you choose to delete, you delete them without putting them in the recycle bin (if you put them in the recycle bin, you can use the recycle bin for file recovery); "Show delete confirmation "Dialog" means to confirm whether to delete again when deleting.
In the disk label item, you can set the amount of disk space occupied by the recycle bin. (Prerequisite: When Independently configure drive is selected in the global label item, otherwise the label item is dark gray and cannot be operated. [1] ) The following will set the recycle bin according to the specific situation.
Change capacity
The maximum capacity of the recycle bin is the disk space times the percentage displayed by the slider. Use the right mouse button to click the recycle bin icon, and then click "Properties". Drag the slider to increase or decrease the percentage of disk space to change the capacity of the recycle bin. .
If you want to configure different disks differently, click Independently Configured Drives, and then click the disk label whose settings you want to change.
If you want to use the same capacity setting for all disks, click Use the same setting for all drives.
delete permanently
To permanently delete files irrecoverably, right-click the Recycle Bin icon, and then click Properties in the pop-up menu; confirm that "Do not move files to the Recycle Bin" is checked, confirm and exit. . If you want to use different settings for different disks, click Independent configuration of each drive, and then click the disk label for which you want to change the settings. If you want to use the same settings for all disks, click Use the same settings for all drives.
Another method is to delete the file by holding down the Shift key (or select the file and press Shift + DEL to delete the file directly), you can also delete the file permanently. At this point, the message displayed in the "Delete Confirmation" dialog box is "Are you sure you want to delete 'So-and-so file'?" Instead of "Are you sure you want to put 'So-and-so file' in Recycle Bin?".
Files deleted at the command prompt are not moved to the Recycle Bin and are permanently deleted.
Pop-up reminder
When deleting the selected file, a "Confirm File Delete" dialog box usually appears. After the user confirms "Yes", the system deletes the file and puts it in the "Recycle Bin". If the user feels troublesome, make sure that the file they want to delete must be correct, and make sure that they do not make mistakes. Instead of displaying the confirmation deletion dialog box, the system can directly put the file in the recycle bin, which slightly improves your work effectiveness. The operation method is: use the right mouse button to click the "Recycle Bin" icon, and then click "Properties" in the pop-up menu; clear the mark in the "Show delete confirmation dialog box" check box, confirm and exit.
Note that if "Don't move files to Recycle Bin" has been checked, this setting has no effect.
File recovery
Double-click the Recycle Bin icon; select the files, folders, and shortcuts to recover (to select multiple recovery items, press the Ctrl key while clicking each item to be recovered, or use the Alt key to select the specified Line); on the File menu, click Restore to recover deleted items. You can also open the Recycle Bin (Explorer), right-click the item you want to restore, and select Restore from the pop-up menu. You can also restore the deleted item. Once deleted files, folders, or shortcuts are restored, they return to their original location.
Clear
Deleting files using the "Recycle Bin" simply puts the files into the "Recycle Bin" and does not free up disk space. Only after the "Recycle Bin" is emptied, the disk space is really freed up. To empty the "Recycle Bin", you can use the following methods: Right-click the "Recycle Bin" icon, select "Empty Recycle Bin" in the pop-up menu, and select "Yes" in the confirmation deletion dialog to empty the Recycle Bin . You can also double-click the Recycle Bin icon. On the File menu, click Empty Recycle Bin. The Recycle Bin is emptied.
If you want to clear some items in the Recycle Bin, select the items you want to clear, and then click Delete on the File menu. If the user wants to delete most of the files in the "Recycle Bin", the following convenient methods can be used: select the files that the user does not delete; click the "Edit" menu; select the "reverse selection" command, then the system selects the user's Deleted files; select the "Delete" command in the "File" menu.
Note that yes: after emptying the "Recycle Bin" or deleting the specified items in the "Recycle Bin", the deleted content cannot be recovered.
Date sort
Over time, we have deleted more files, so we do nt know which file to restore, but in short we have to make the recovery of deleted files a priority. At this time, just go to the recycle bin of the system and right-click With the mouse, select the "Arrange Icon" "Delete by Date" command, and the Recycle Bin will arrange the deleted files one by one according to the deleted date. At this time, you can quickly find the files to be restored based on the deleted date.
Use with caution
Do nt be excited to put a lot of files into it because of a recycle bin on your Windows desktop:
First, because the essence of the action of putting in the recycle bin is to move files, the efficiency of recovering files will decrease (provided that the recycle bin space is not configured on the disk where the files to be moved to the recycle bin are located);
Second, some files cannot be recovered after being placed in the recycle bin.
In addition, many files have extensions such as EXE (application), COM (system executable or MS-DOS application), BAT (batch file), SYS (system file), and DLL (dynamic link library). These are files that cannot be modified at will, and the "Windows" folder, which is the most important for the operating system, please do not easily delete any of these files, otherwise a large number of similar files will appear on the screen even if you can boot normally. The "File Missing" prompt dialog box may even cause the system to fail to start. [2]
registration message
If you want to add the "Empty Recycle Bin" option to the right-click menu of any file, you can also modify it by modifying the registry. Open the Registry Editor and find "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT \ * \ shellex \ ContextMenuHandlers". After creating a new primary key of {645FF040-5081-101B- 9F08-00AA002F954E} under the ContextMenuHandlers primary key, restart the computer.
Rename
We can change the name of most of the icons on the desktop without directly renaming the recycle bin. If you want to change the name of "Recycle Bin", you can only change HKY_CLASSES_ROOT \ CLSID \ {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E} in the Registry Editor from "Recycle Bin" to another name. (Such as the "Trash"), close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
However, for the security of your computer, it is more recommended that you use special software to set it up.
Why the Recycle Bin can move files quickly
If you move a 2GB file, it takes about one minute, but it takes less than one second to move this file to the recycle bin, because the file still exists in the original place. Moving to the recycle bin just clears the FAT table (file allocation table ), Make the system think that there are no files on the disk, only after deleting (empty the recycle bin) the files will really disappear from the disk.

Recycle bin recovery by mistake

If you want to recover the data after emptying the recycle bin, first be careful not to read or write (add, modify, move, copy, etc. file operations) on the partition where the file is located, otherwise the success rate will be reduced. Choose one of the following software: PC Inspector File Recovery (free), Recuva (free), FinalData, EasyRecovery and other professional software, as well as the data recovery master of Rubik's Cube, and data recovery in the 360 Security Guard function encyclopedia. However, for the security of important data, it is still recommended that you handle it directly through professional data recovery personnel. Data recovery is involved here, if you need to refer to the "data recovery" entry.
First of all, please note that the method here is limited to recovering the "Recycle Bin" icon if the Recycle Bin icon is not found. If you need to recover a file that has been completely deleted, you can refer to the "File accidentally deleted recovery method" above.

Recycle Bin Registry Act

Many software can hide the "Recycle Bin" by modifying the registry. At this time, as long as you change it back, you will get the "Recycle Bin" icon. Specific operations:
method one
1. Click "Start" \ "Run", type "regedit" in "Open" to run the Registry Editor;
2. Expand the registry to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ HideDesktopIcons \ NewStartPanel;
3. In the right pane, right-click the "{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}" DWORD value and select "Modify";
4. In the "Value data" box, type the value "0" and then click "OK";
5. Exit the Registry Editor.
Method Two
1. Click "Start"-"Run", then enter regedit (open the registry);
2. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / SOFTWARE / Microsoft / Windows / CurrentVersion / Explorer / DeskTop / NameSpace in the Registry Editor.
3. Right-click "NameSpace", select "New"-"Item", and name it "{645FF <cite class =" highlight "highlight =" true "> 040-5081-101 </ cite> B -9F08-00AA002F954E} ";
4. Select the item again, set the "Default" key value on the right to "Recycle Bin", and then exit the registry;
5.Restart the computer.
Note: This method is widely used on the Internet to recover deleted data. However, under normal circumstances, this key value should be used, so it cannot play a role in recovering data.

Recycle Bin Group Policy

1. Run Group Policy by clicking "Start" \ Run, typing "GPEDIT.MSC" in the "Open" box, and then "OK";
2. Under "User Configuration", click "Administrative Templates" and then double-click "Desktop";
3. Double-click "Remove Recycle Bin from Desktop";
4. Click the "Settings" tab, select "Not Configured", and then click the "OK" button.

Mac OS Recycle Mac OS

Introduction to Recycle Bin Information

The Recycle Bin is part of the hard drive and you can change its size.
Recycling station (English name: Recycling station) is the default application in Mac OS and Mac OS X. It allows users to manage files, files, floppy disks, networks, and activate other applications. The Finder is similar to the Operating system shell in other operating systems, and the Finder uses a graphical user interface (GUI). The Finder was already available on the earliest first Macintosh computers, and also appeared as part of GS / OS on Apple II GS computers. When Apple switched to the UNIX-based Mac OS X operating system, the Finder was completely rewritten.
After activating (or logging in) the Macintosh computer, Finder is the program that users will first come into contact with. It is also responsible for reflecting the main visual style of the entire operating system. It should be noted that this should not and should not be actually built into the operating system. The graphical user interface provided by a particular service component is confusing (for example: WindowServer). Although the Finder is one of the important parts of the operating system, it is only an application. The user can close the Finder from the system, but then it will not be able to open any files or folders.
The Finder can continuously display the file system calculated using the Desktop metaphor, which means that files and folders are represented in an appropriate pattern, the files will appear on the desktop, and there is a trash can (in the Dock on OS X, earlier On the desktop, you can delete files by dragging them over the trash icon.

Recycle Bin Version

Finder 1.0 to 4.1
The earliest Finder was used with MFS (Macintosh File System), always leaving a blank folder in the root directory of each disk. As long as this folder is renamed or used, the system will automatically generate another new blank folder. In Finder 1.0-4.1, the folder itself cannot be replaced by its internal folder. The maintenance of the folder is performed only by the Finder and is not saved in the file system. Therefore, you cannot have two files with the same name on one drive, and you cannot display folders in the application's Open dialog box, but simply list all files. If you rebuild the desktop, all folder information will be lost, and all files will be returned to the root directory.
There is also a "Trash folder (also known as" Trash folder ") in Finder. The only way to delete files is to drag files into this Trash folder and then empty the Trash. Nevertheless, this trash folder is just a mirror and cannot be reflected on disk. The list of files in the trash is only stored in memory, so the Finder empties the trash before it, including when running any other program. If something unexpected happens, the files in the trash can will be returned to their original location.
Finder 1.1 on Macintosh 128K, released in May 1984, slow file copying caused many users to be dissatisfied, because early computers had only one drive, and this operation required users to constantly switch disks, although the main reason was due to the small capacity Of memory. It wasn't until 1985 that Finder 4.1 was released that it really improved Finder speed and added new features, including adding a "New Folder" command and a "Close" command in the new "Special" menu, and also accessing "MiniFinder". MiniFinder is a simplified interface, which contains some commonly used applications and documents, and is faster to start, saving time to switch between applications and extensions.
Finder 7.0 to 9.2
Apple released System 7 in 1991, a significant improvement to its operating system. Like other software in the system, Finder is completely rewritten in C ++. The Finder window can be tinted, and the list view can be expanded to the next level through a "collapse triangle."
Although the Macintosh operating system itself continued to improve, the Finder remained relatively unchanged until the release of Mac OS 8 in 1997. Finder 8.0 is the first multi-threaded version. Users can finally copy files or empty the trash without being blocked by other Finder functions at the same time. Like other system accessories, Finder 8.0 has a metallic appearance, and also adds a number of new features, such as a tab displayed at the bottom of the screen that can pop up a window to display its content after clicking. Finder 8.0 also introduced folders with springs. Finder 8.1 was released in early 1998 and began to support HFS + file systems more effectively.
Finder 9, released in October 1999, began to support multi-user operation, software updates, and Classic support modes. Other features of version 9.1 include support for very large files (> 2GB), Encryption, Keychains, USB printer sharing and burning CDs. Finder 9 is the last major upgrade of the classic Mac OS Finder. Then in December 2001, after OS 9.2.2., Apple stopped developing Mac OS 9, and also stopped the Finder.
Finder 10.0 to 10.2.1
The Finder in Mac OS X is not an upgrade of the previous version, but a complete rewrite after borrowing from the NeXTSTEP file manager. Therefore, it is very different from the original Finder, and many old users said that they are not used to it.
Finder 10.0 is missing some features in Classic. The universal desktop is gone, replaced by a desktop that only displays the contents of the user's own desktop folder. The original support for labels and various metadata is also missing. Also disappearing are pop-up windows, desktop printers, "organize" commands, and compressed folders. In Finder 10.0, the wastebasket (trash bin) also disappeared from the desktop and is no longer part of the desktop, but integrated into the system's Dock.
Finder 10.0 introduces a highly customizable toolbar that appears at the top of each Finder window. Another new feature is the column view created by NeXT technology. A new column can be created on the right to display the contents of the next level folder.
Mac OS X 10.1 is a free upgrade that introduces CD burning compatibility in the Finder. This performance has already appeared in the classic Mac OS 9.1 version.
Finder 10.3
The Finder in Mac OS X v10.3 has been improved, while retaining some of the features of the classic environment, it also introduced an updated user interface.
Finder 10.3 has a look called Brushed Metal, which is similar to the look of Apple's iTunes player software (before Version 5, it became a Polished Metal look). As in several older versions after OS X 10.0, users can customize a toolbar in the Finder window, including the search palette, and can perform dynamic searches in any selected folder or disk. There is a new skin on the left side of the Finder called the "Sidebar", and almost any part can be dragged in as a quick access method. Importantly, these custom sidebar content will also appear in the open / save dialogs of other applications. The sidebar also shows options for removing and moving memory. Mac OS 9 tags and search by input, creator metadata and other features are popular with old users, so they reappeared in 10.3.
By clicking the "Show / Hide Sidebar" button in the upper right corner of the window, not only the toolbar of the window can be hidden, but also the sidebar is hidden, turning the window into "Compact Mode".
Finder 10.4 to Finder 10.5
Mac OS X v10.4 has further modified the Finder, including a slideshow function (similar to Windows Explorer), which can browse selected images directly in full screen in the Finder; Spotlight, a new concept introduced in 10.4, aims to search the entire The information in the operating system, the shortcut of command-F in the classic, now evolves in another way. Search results can be saved as smart folders, which can display search results that are updated at any time. But there are two other ways to search: Spotlight menu items and Spotlight windows. Apple claims that "Spotlight and Mac OS X will change the way you find, organize, and evaluate the information on your computer." Nevertheless, some people find that using Spotlight is slower, even on new machines. Searching Speed is also limited.
The Finder has been updated in the Leopard system. The main user interface is similar to iTunes7, and it also includes the Cover Flow display method (as shown in the figure). The new FInder includes a new sidebar that has been sorted and organized, and is more tightly integrated with Spotlight. In addition, there is a new feature called "Quick Look" that allows you to directly view the content of the file without the need Open the corresponding application. The new FInder uses a new "unified theme" for its visual appearance.

Finder Recycle Bin Finder

Some third-party Macintosh software developers provide software that can find the Finder and run independently on the Macintosh like other applications, such as Path Finder. These alternative software are shareware, the goal is to provide some features that Finder does not have while implementing Finder.
