What is a saddle valve?
A cheap way of creating a side flow from the main water flow is using a saddle valve. Installation can often be carried out by the owner of a house without a plumber. However, not all jurisdictions allow the use of a saddle valve.
The valve consists of a two -piece clamp, a connection of the tee for a new water flow and the stem that opens or closes the valve. At the end of the stem, the self -pending seat valve has a sharp screw point that pierces the tube without required to drill the hole in the tube. The tubes relate to a pipe with a diameter of less than 1 inch. A typical installation is on a piece of copper pipe or tube, which is a cold water feed on a sink or water heater or any nearby cold water line. Hot water is not tapped because it is more likely to block a small opening of the salt valve. The humidifier also requires water feed, which could be supplied with a saddle valve to a nearby water pipe. The location of the valve is selected on the basis of available cold water feedingValve appliances and availability.
In many installations, a self -propelled seat valve with a tee is used. For copper tubes with a small diameter, the property of the self -doubt can be sufficient to ensure a reliable water flow. For larger tubing, pipes or installation without a hill, manufacturers may indicate that penetration into the supply feed will be drilled before placing the saddle valve. The feed source pipe should be launched before installation.
Two clamps, when screwed, surround the tube. The curved shape of the clamps gives the saddle valve its name. The rubber seal is located on the piercing screw points. Once it is firmly placed, with a rubber seal slightly compressed, the stem is tightened until the tubing wall exceeds and eventually it cannot be rotated. For valves that do not unend, the rubber seal is placed on Pa tiled opening.
Thefeed into the device, often plastic hoses, is attached to the valve launches by means of ferrule and matrix. The hose flow should be measured to ensure that the manufacturer's requirements meet the equipment before installing the device. This can be done by timing the water filling in a large measuring cup, a juice container or another marked container. The stem should always be in full open position to minimize deposits.
