What is the shear unit?

SKID UNIT is a type of portable fire suppression device that can be mounted in bed or other similar vehicle. These separate devices are designed to slide onto the vehicle's bed, which is usually used for other purposes to turn into a highly mobile platform of fire suppression. Skid units can expand the capacity of the fire brigade of the fire brigade by lower total costs than the purchase of a fire engine, but can also be used to achieve areas that larger fire trucks cannot. The size of the shear unit is limited only by the platform to which it is designed for installation and can hold anywhere from 50 to 1,500 gallons (190 to 5 600 liters) of water. It is also possible for the shear unit to issue an agent to suppress a chemical fire instead of water. Other units are designed to use foams and other methods of chemical fire suppression. The Skid Unit may be designed specifically for the release of class A or B foam, in which case it will have containers for the endingEntrates of foam instead of or in addition to water. Other shear units are used by the Twin Agent (Tafes) fire extinguisher. In some dangerous applications, this use of dry chemicals and foams may be necessary for the fire content.

The various components that make up the shear unit are usually mounted on a platform that can slip into a standard pickup bed. There are also larger and smaller units that are designed to be used with other commercially available vehicles. Very large shear units can be installed on platform trucks and usually come with very large water tanks and small units can be placed on the beds of all off -road vehicles (ATV) for increased mobility.

Forestry and other organizations often use small units mounted on ATV. These CAN vehicles to process rough terrain much better than pickups and often can reach areas that are inaccessible PRO Firefighter engines full size. Some shear units that are designed for ATV also include different equipment for saving life, which is usually transmitted by ambulances. These units sometimes also have room for transporting injured persons from a difficult to reach area and back to medical assistance.
