What is a venturi meter?
Venturi meter, or Venturi flow meter, is a device used to measure the speed or flow of fluid flowing. Venturi meter limits the flow using the Herschel Venturi tube. As the liquid flows through the pipeline, the device measures the pressure of the liquid before entering the Venturi tube and the area of the area. These measurements are then compared with a picture of the volume flow of fluid. The flow meter is commonly used in plumbing applications to determine the flow of fluids such as water, liquid propane and oil. The entrance point is usually thirty degrees of cone, which limits the cone by five degrees to the east. Venturi meter leads to less degradation of head pressure due to the tube construction.
Venturi meter can accurately measure the flow using Bernoulli's principle. Bernoulli reported that the speed of the liquid increase in direct ratio to reduce pressure. When the liquid is forced by a narrowed pipe, it begins to move at a higher speed, because most of the pressure is behind the narrowing.
A common example of Bernoulli's principle in action can be found in the garden hose nozzle. When the nozzle turns fully open, the water flows slowly and usually falls only a short distance from the nozzle. When the nozzle turns towards the closed position, it reduces the flow of water and increases its speed. The pressure held by the nozzle and speed can carry water over long distances.
Venturi The meter accurately calculates the volume flow of the fluid by means of a complex formula. This calculation considers the pipe radius, whether the measured liquid is compressible or nea the total volume of the liquid present. Various coefficients are added that compensate for fluid viscosity, changes in cone angles of venturi and other variables. When these numbers are calculated, together with the measurement of the pressure made by the Venturi meter, the exact description of the liquid flow can be detected.
