What is a Water Tower?
Water towers are used to store water in residential areas, and some of them are an important part of the water plant production process. Towering structure for water storage and distribution, used to maintain and regulate the amount and pressure of water in the water supply network. It is mainly composed of a water tank, a foundation and a support tube or a bracket connecting the two. In industrial and civil buildings, the water tower is a relatively common and special building. Its construction requires special care and skill. If the construction quality is not good, it may cause permanent leakage in light, and it may not be used if it is scrapped.
- There are two types of container water towers: plastic water tower and stainless steel water tower:
- Essentials of construction and quality requirements
- 1. The soil quality of the water tower foundation should be consistent with the design drawings, and verification experiments should be carried out if necessary.
- Various auxiliary devices and devices above the water tower floor are numerous and complicated, such as the pre-installation of equipment such as iron ladders, overflow pipes, downspouts, lightning conductors, etc., reservations of fixed cards, windows, door holes, drain holes, etc. Both internal and external templates should be inspected in detail
- Examples of handling various accidents in the construction of reinforced silicon inverted cone shell water towers for reference by construction and design units. Although more than 3,000 reinforced alkali inverted cone shell water towers have been built at home and abroad, both in terms of design and construction are mature things. However, due to the special circumstances of the construction market, such structures still lack uniform construction specifications, or many Local construction teams (including township and village enterprises) do not pay much attention to construction quality management, and various accidents will still occur during the construction process. The examples of handling these accidents over the years are introduced below for reference. [2]
- Hankou Water Tower
- Hankou Water Tower, built in 1908. The water tower used to be Hankou s modern fire-fighting landmark. For a long time, it took on the dual tasks of fire-fighting water supply and fire-fighting lookout. [2]
- Beigang Water Tower
- Beigang Water Tower was built in 1930. The 68-year-old Beigang Water Tower is a reinforced concrete building that uses Beigang streams as the water source to improve the drinking water of residents in Beigang Town. The waterworks was called "watercourse" in Japanese, and it had equipment for water extraction, sedimentation, filtration, disinfection, etc. The process of sending the treated water to each home was called "watercourse water", which was the most perfect design at the time. The special design of the water plant office is quite aesthetic. After the restoration, the Beigang Water Tower was operated by the Beigang Town Waterworks and is now merged with the Taiwan Water Company. [2]
- Iron Water Tower and Xinhua Street Water Tower
- The earliest water tower in Nanning, Ling Tie Water Tower, is located in Ling Tie Water Plant at No. 53 Zhuzi Road. It was built at the same time as Ling Tie Water Plant in April 1934 (23 years of the Republic of China), making it the first water tower in Nanning. The tower is 25 meters high, covers an area of 16 square meters, has a water storage capacity of 80 cubic meters, and is equipped with one inlet pipe and one outlet pipe. The tower has a small water storage capacity and is far from the downtown area. After the Xinhua Street water tower was completed in 1937 (26th of the Republic of China), it was only used for filter backwashing and water supply for residents near Ling Tie Village. It stopped in the 1960s. In use, a comprehensive derusting paint maintenance was carried out in 1969 and it is now in good condition. This shows that Nanning's industry started late, its industrial foundation is relatively weak, there are few large-scale industrial buildings, and most of them are small-scale, small-scale, and simple factories, all of which were built or expanded after the 1960s. With the adjustment of the city's industrial structure, changes in social lifestyles and the "close, stop, merge, and transfer" of enterprises, many industrial remnants such as industrial sites, auxiliary facilities, machinery and equipment have been left in the urban area of Nanning. Combining with the census requirements of industrial heritage, the Nanning census team conducted a serious investigation on the cultural relics of historical buildings, characteristic factory areas, industrial buildings, and auxiliary buildings in Nanning city. - Railway water tower of the Angangxi Qing Dynasty railway in Qiqihar
- The water tower of the Angangxi Railway at the end of Qing Dynasty in Qiqihar, with a century-old water tower, is surrounded by big trees, and the building condition is still intact. Heilongjiang general Cheng Dequan decided at the time to build a railway with self-raised funds to connect with the Dongqing railway. In order to replenish water for the moving train, two railway water towers were built, one of which was the Angangxi Railway water tower. Later, the Russians rejected the use of water towers on the grounds that the Qing government in the "railway annex" had no right to intervene. As a result, the water tower of the railway at the end of the Qing Dynasty at Angangxi has not been used for one day. [2]
