What Is Formaldehyde Resin?
Toluene-formaldehyde resin; methbylben-zene formaldehyde resin; a resin prepared by reacting toluene with formaldehyde in the presence of a sulfuric acid catalyst, which is modified with phenols to become a thermosetting resin. Compared with phenolic resin, it has excellent alkali resistance and electrical properties, and can be used as molding compound, laminate, etc. Due to issues such as manufacturing process and curing speed, it is almost no longer used.
