What Is Comminution?
Crushing is a unit operation in chemical production. It is a purely mechanical operation. For solid raw materials that are too large to be used or semi-finished products that do not meet the requirements, they must be processed to make them smaller. This process is called crushing.
- Crushing is a kind of chemical production
- Chemical unit operation is the main research area of chemical engineering (also known as the principle of chemical engineering). It is the basic operation with common physical changes in chemical industry production. It is summarized by various chemical production operations and basically includes five aspects. :
- Fluid flow processes, including fluid transport, filtration, fluidization of solids, etc.
- Heat transfer process, including heat conduction, convection, radiation, boiling, evaporation, condensation, etc.
- Mass transfer process, that is, the transfer of materials, including gas absorption, distillation, extraction, adsorption, drying, etc.
- Thermodynamic process, that is, the process of temperature and pressure changes, including liquefaction, freezing, etc.
- Mechanical processes, including solids conveying, crushing, screening, etc.
- Chemical unit operations are used in various chemical productions. At the beginning of the 20th century, scientists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States summarized them into an independent discipline. Together with chemical unit processes, they formed the basic knowledge of chemical industry production. The principle and calculation method can be applied to the design and production process of various chemical industries. [2]
