What Is Repair Sealant?
Automotive sealants are glass sealants that act on seals and prevent oil leakage.

- Automotive sealants are glass sealants that act on seals and prevent oil leakage.
- Sealant has its special characteristics in automobile maintenance. Because most of the joint surfaces are deformed and damaged to varying degrees after use and disassembly, the sealing and leakage prevention makes it more difficult, and the "three leaks" problem is particularly prominent in the auto repair industry. Due to the relationship between the location and the high pressure, the incidence of oil leakage failure has been high, which has become a major problem in improving quality. For example, the side cover of the valve compartment of the engine is in the side position, and the gas pressure is inside. In addition, the side cover is easily deformed by metal parts, and its structure is fastened by middle bolts. . Anaerobic sealant has a good anti-loosening effect and can completely replace spring washers and flat washers. In car repair, all bolts can be used with anaerobic adhesive. Especially the use of bolts in some key parts can give full play to its unique role. For example, the connecting rod bolt on the engine, because it is subjected to the reciprocating strong impact load, the problem of preventing the loosening of the connecting rod bolt is very prominent. The use of anaerobic adhesive can solve this problem. Anaerobic sealants can also be leak-proof. After the bolts are tightened, there is still a certain gap between the threads, and a small amount of leakage can still occur. Especially in some high-pressure parts, the problem of leakage prevention is very prominent. The old methods of adding copper pads or applying lead oil are not ideal, and the use of anaerobic adhesives can solve this problem.
Car sealant glass glue
- It can be used to bond the windshield and rear window on the car so that it can be firmly integrated into the body. The use of glass glue completely abandons the backward means of traditional glass installation, making the glass supporting work easy to operate and the degree of automation has also been greatly improved. In addition, the glass glue also has good properties such as strength, elasticity, compression and shock resistance.
Car sealant sealant
- Polyvinyl chloride-based automotive coating sealants are divided into paintable and non-paintable types. Its main function is to keep the entire car body sealed, and to isolate it from external moisture, dust and smoke. In addition, this kind of sealant also has the function of anti-corrosion, sound insulation and landscaping. Colorable sealant can be used in low-temperature and high-temperature baking paint processes. It can be used to seal the visible gaps on the outside of the seal without itself contaminating the dried topcoat. Non-colored sealant can be used to fill the gaps in the car body, or painted on the body chassis to prevent corrosion. In addition, this non-colored sealant is more than 65% lighter than traditional PVC sealants, which has played a role in reducing the weight of the entire vehicle.
Automotive sealant reinforcement
- Can be used to strengthen the metal sheet and thermosetting plastic sheet belonging to the automotive industry. It can also be used at joints, seams, doors, interior floors, luggage compartments, etc. of automobile components to prevent deformation and bending. In addition, the reinforced rubber also has a buffering effect, and is widely used as a decorative material on the inner wall of a car. This reinforced bonding material can be firmly combined with various substrates, such as oiled iron parts. In the process of designing new car cases, the use of reinforced plastics allows model designers to consider reducing the thickness of steel plates without reducing the strength. Reinforced rubber is a three-layer composite material in actual use: the surface layer is cloth cellophane, the middle layer is a viscous polymer body with a glass fiber skeleton material, and the bottom layer is a release paper. This composite material can be made in a variety of geometries and shapes for selection. It is easy to use, just need to peel off the release paper and stick it on the required part. The gelatin will condense and harden after the baking process, so it has a good effect of strengthening and reinforcing. In general, the strength after reinforcement is hundreds of times the strength of the material before strengthening. Reinforced rubber has two types of high temperature and medium temperature coagulation formula; there is also an expandable product, the polymer adhesive of this product will swell when it sets.
Automotive sealant structural adhesive
- In the past 20 years, structural adhesives have been widely used by automobile manufacturers to replace fusion welding and mechanical part structures to reduce their specific gravity. The bonding objects include composite plastics and metal materials. It can not only bond various structural elements, but also has a sealing function. This advantage is not available in traditional mechanical riveting and welding processes.
Automotive sealant polyurethane foam
- In response to the needs of car manufacturers to produce low-noise, comfortable cars, foam agents have been developed. This polyurethane foam product can be used for noise reduction and shock absorption of body structures. Some hollow structures in the body parts often cause resonance in the air and thus generate noise. Filling these hollow structures with dense foam will solve the above problems, which are divided into high density and low density. Low-density foam can be used to fill holes in automotive components. When the low-density foam is injected into the cavity, its liquid mixture will expand rapidly. After expansion, the volume of the foam can reach 40 times its initial volume, and finally a solidified foam layer is formed. This process can be completed in just 15 minutes. The high-density foam is used to reinforce important structural parts of the vehicle body (such as beams and columns). Its slow expansion feature allows sufficient time for the injected liquid mixture to flow through and fill the hollow structure. The volume after its expansion is only about 10 times its initial volume, and after 30 minutes, it will be completely cured.
