What are the different types of Bunion surgery?

There are many types of Bunion surgery. In fact, there are more than 100 types according to some estimates. Some of these operations are aimed at removing bone, while others are used to respond tissues. There is no only procedure that would best work in all cases. Some surgeons perform more than one type of procedure on the leg of the same person.

Depending on the unique case of the patient, the surgeon may consider it necessary to remove the lump of the bone that bulges from the side of the foot. This operation, which is called buunionectomy, removes the bulge, but does not correct the alignment of the large tip of the patient. Sometimes surgeons remove the whole part of the bone from the patient's large finger. This procedure, called osteotomy, is used to straighten a large finger or foot of the patient. In this case, the surgeon can use special devices such as screws or wires to keep the bones during the healing process.

Sometimes the surgeon sees the need to balance the ligaments around the patient's largeTips during Bunina surgery. This surgery is performed to adjust the bonds around the large finger of a person that either became looser than normal or stronger than usual. When this happens, the large finger of the patient becomes a leveling finger and moves towards the other fingers of the person. Moving can fix the shift of bindings.

In some cases, the bones may need to be removed at the end of the patient's first metatarsis during the Bunion surgery. Metatarsal is one of the long bones in the leg. The first metatarsal is connected to the metatarsofallangal joint, which is the joint at the bottom of the large finger of man. After removing the required amount of bone, the surgeon then transforms the affected bones, including a large bone at the tip.

During some surgery, surgeons can remove part of the patient's tip and then join the remaining pieces together. In other cases an artificial joint or part of one is inserted oninstead of a damaged joint. These artificial joints are often made of plastic.

No matter what type of Bunion surgery the patient has, he can usually expect a somewhat lengthy recovery period. Some types of surgery of Bunnion include more soft or bone tissue that require a longer healing time. Depending on the type of buunion surgery, the patient may require six weeks of recovery, while other patients need up to six months to completely recover.
