What is a catheter plug?

Catheter plug is a small piece of cylinder plastic, which is inserted into the drainage hose of the bladder catheter, also called the Foley catheter. Inserting a catheter plug into the opening of the drainage tube prevents leakage from Foley's catheter. The plug is used on the occasion where it is necessary to remove a drainage bag for urine, for example during swimming, showering and some physical activities. Many catheter plugs have combs on the surface of the plug, which allow the patient to grasp safer for easier installation and removal of a small plastic piece. Some are packed with a separate cover for protection of drainage tube and urine collection bag, while other plugs have a built -in design that allows you to function as a plug or cover.

Most catheter plugs are designed for use only once and cannot be sterilized between use. One type of catheter plug can be soaked in the isopropyl alcohol solution while Bladder is exhausted into the sbu bagru urine. Some catheter plugs can be easily wiped with isopropyl alcohol and re -inserted into the catheter drainage tubes during everyday use. The catheter plug should never be used for more than one patient to prevent the risk of bacteria contamination from one patient to another.

The simplest catheter plug is a small plastic cone without latex. It comes with a plastic closure that protects the shape of the plug when it is not used. The cap can be used to cover the end of the connective hose in the drainage bag when it is disconnected from the catheter Foley.

One clearly designed catheter plug is also cone -shaped. Small plastic combs are placed on the highest part of the plug. It is individually wrapped in an Olib pack, which allows the patient or carer to open it and quickly connect the drainage hoses.

Another Type Cathetruug Plug is shaped as KHe was already with a tapering end. The entire surface of this catheter stopper is covered with combs that allow the patient or carer to easily grasp the plug. The raised areas on the plug also provide the user with the possibility to remove the plug with a larger control, which can alleviate some of the momentary discomfort that a person can feel when the plug is removed, and the urine can drain from the bladder.
