What is Laser Greenlight?

Laser Greenlight ™ is a system designed to supply intensive laser energy to the prostate to treat benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH), which is a non -ski prostate enlargement. The prostate that lies near the bladder that produces a white seed fluid of the male ejaculate, surrounds the urethra or urinary canal through which the urine flows from the bladder. When the prostate increases, the bladder cannot completely empty the prostate due to the impact on the urethra. Greenlight ™ laser therapy evaporates swollen prostate tissue and restores normal urine flow through the urethra.

Most men develop benign prostate hypertrophy at the age of 80. Typical symptoms of BPH include frequent urine needs, problems with initiation of urination, poor urine and dribbling urine. The traditional treatment of BPH is the transuretral resection of the prostate (TURP), which is increased surgically prostate. Although Turp is highly effective, has some serious side effects, including bleeding, incontinence and erectiLing dysfunction. Turp recovery period is usually four to six weeks.

urologists can perform Greenlight ™ laser therapy in an outpatient environment if the patient is otherwise healthy. Clinical studies show that patients are treated with normal urine flow within 24 hours of the procedure and returning to their normal daily activities within a few days. Less than one percent of the patients treated had erectile dysfunction and the procedure is almost bloodless. Patients who required a special tube inserting to go through the urine after surgery kept the tube for less than 24 hours. Some cases required no catheterization.

After surgery, most patients have a slight burning with urination for one week after the Greenlight ™ laserpostu laser. Urine can also be slightly colored with blood. There is a small chance of infection of urinary tract that can be managed by antibiotics. Some patients may experience retrogradeEjaculation without no fluid culminated during the culmination. The dry climax does not affect the ability to have an erection or orgasm.

More than 375,000 patients around the world have undergone the Greenlight ™ laser procedure for BPH. The results of treatment in these cases provided permanent relief from symptoms for at least five years. There are studies to expand the scope of patients who are capable of treating Greenlight ™ laser, including high -risk patients on blood thinners with extremely large prostate. In addition, new laser applications are evaluated, including the potential for the treatment of surface bladder cancer.
