What is laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy?
Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy is a type of surgery to remove ovarian cysts from the female body without required to stay in the hospital or the main scarring. The procedure includes the use of a laparoscope, a small device with light and camera, allowing doctors to see the interior of the body during surgery. Because this tool is so small, most patients must only have a few small cuts than one large cut, resulting in less noticeable scarring. This procedure is considered non -invasive and is usually performed. Unfortunately, women with particularly large or fixed cysts or whose ovaries need to be removed, usually have a conventional cystectomy of the ovaries.
During a typical laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy, the laparoscope is placed in a small slot near the abdominal button. Light and camera end of this device along with carbon dioxidethat can be inserted into the body, allow the doctor to clearly see the interior. Most doctors also have to perform several other small abdomen cuts to adapt to other tools involved in the cyst removal. Since the cysts must be able to fit through small slots in the abdomen, they cannot typically remove those that are particularly large, solid or attached to many tissue ovaries. Many patients prefer this procedure because it usually takes an hour or less and most people can return home only a few hours after the procedure, unlike standard ovarian cystectomy.
As well as any surgery, there are risks associated with laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy. For example, one or all spaces can be infected, causing redness, pain, discharge and fever. Some patients may also notice excessive bleeding. In addition, most patients are placed under general anesthesia during surgery, which means there are ursNo risk of negative reaction to this strong drug.
There is also some side effects to be prepared for laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy, although they are generally mild. For example, most women feel some tenderness near the cuts for the first few days after the operation, as well as nausea and flatulence. The common side effects of this procedure are also fatigue, vaginal bleeding, stomach pain and convulsions. Most women should be fully recovered about a month after laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy.
